Apple iPad tops kids' holiday gift lists, says survey

A new survey from Nielsen has found that the iPad is the most wanted electronics gift with kids between the ages of 6 and 12. Those over the age of 13 were most interested in getting a new computer as a holiday gift.

AT&T offering BOGO Windows Phone 7 deal starting Friday

AT&T will offer a buy-one get-one (BOGO) Windows Phone 7 deal beginning on November 26, Microsoft announced today on its Windows Phone 7 Twitter account. AT&T will offer the LG Quantum, the HTC Surround, and the Samsung Focus each for $199.99 with a new contract. Anyone buying those phones will be able to get another one free with a new AT&T contract.

Acer announces Android tablets, app store

Today Acer announced that it will begin selling two Android powered tablets in 2011. It will offer both a 7-inch Qualcomm powered model and a 10-inch NVIDIA powered model. Acer also announced its own application store called "Alive.

UberTwitter beta for iPhone now available

Today UberTwitter announced that a beta version of UberTwitter for iPhone is now available in the Apple App Store for free. UberTwitter offers all of the basic Twitter functionality, as well as support for both portrait and landscape mode. Shared websites, photos, and videos, are all embedded in the application, too. UberTwitter originally launched on BlackBerry smartphones.

Acer outs new Android smartphone with 4.8-inch display

Today Acer made a number of new product announcements, among them is a new (and unnamed) Android smartphone. The device offers a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and a 4.8-inch LED backlit display with a 1024 x 48 resolution. It's expected to ship in April 2011.

RIM revamps BlackBerry Maps, adds new countries and POI

RIM has updated its BlackBerry Maps application with a host of new features, including support for 34 new countries including Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, New Zealand, The Philippines and Taiwan. BlackBerry Maps has a new color scheme, points of interest databases for hospitals, universities/colleges, police stations, train/subway stations, shops, airports, and more. Cricket Black Friday sale begins today

Today Cricket Wireless announced that its Black Friday sale begins today and runs through November 30. Cricket is offering the Cricket MSGM8 II, a feature phone, for $49.99 after rebates. It's also selling the Huawei Ascend, an Android smartphone, for $99.99, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $199.99, and the Cricket Crosswave for $124.99, after rebates.

Skyfire 3.0 with integrated Facebook features now available for Android

Today the Skyfire announced its Skyfire 3.0 browser for Android smartphones. The latest iteration adds Facebook integration on smartphones running Android 2.0 or newer. With a single button you can access your Facebook feed, profile, and Facebook Places. Skyfire also includes the Facebook Like button on all sites that you visit. Other features include Fireplace, a Facebook feed reader, the SkyBar toolbar for watching video, and OneTouch Search which allows you to search Google, Facebook, VideoSurf, Digg, Twitter, or Amazon. Skyfire 3.0 with Facebook Connect for Android is available for free "for a limited time only," in the Android Market.

Send a text to 911? FCC says yes

The Federal Communications Commission is reportedly interested in revamping its current 911 emergency system to allow for U.S. citizens to contact 911 via a text or multimedia message from their mobile phones.

Apple planning Black Friday Sale

Apple has announced that it is planning to offer a sale this Black Friday, November 26, beginning at 8am. Apple's advertisement says "You'll find dozens of great iPad, iPod, and Mac gifts for everyone on your list," so we assume there will be sales on those gadgets, at least. We'll keep you up to date on Friday if Apple releases specific sale items.

Dell selling unlocked Streak with Android Froyo, offers new colors

Dell has announced that it is now selling an unlocked version of its Dell Streak, with Android 2.2 Froyo, for $579 to U.S. customers. The Streak is also now available in "cherry red," and "pure white" color schemes, but those versions currently run Android 1.6 and will be updated to Froyo in the future. The Pure White version is exclusively available through Best Buy. Dell is also providing a 32GB microSD card in cherry red or carbon black for an extra $99.
