RIM responds to Dell's plan to ditch BlackBerry

Today Dell said that it plans to migrate 25,000 of its employees from BlackBerry devices to Dell's own Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 phones. Research In Motion has responded. "We find it highly unlikely that they will actually save any money with this move and far more likely they were looking for a little free publicity," RIM's Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing Mark Guibert, told The Wall Street Journal. Guibert noted that Dell could have made the comments because it's making a push into the corporate mobile space with its WP7 devices.

Acer Stream Android 2.1 smartphone review

Sprint updates visual voicemail with voice-to-text option

Sprint is updating its visual voicemail service with a new voice-to-text feature. The new option costs $1.99 per month and is available with a free 30 day trial. Sprint has not made an official announcement but some Sprint subscribers are noticing an update is available when they launch the visual voicemail client.

Dell providing employees with its Venue Pro WP7 smartphone

Dell plans to provide 25,000 of its employees, which were typically given BlackBerry smartphones, with its own device soon. According to Reuters, Dell will give its employees Windows Phone 7 powered Venue Pro smartphones. The Venue Pro will launch on T-Mobile and offers both a touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. A Dell spokesperson said the Venue Pro rollout will begin soon, but that it will "take some time to complete," Reuters reported. Copy and paste headed to Windows Phone 7 in early 2011

Microsoft told us that copy/paste functionality was coming to Windows Phone 7 when we started reviewing its products, it just wasn't specific on when the feature would be added. Microsoft has recently said that it will be adding the functionality "as an update in a matter of weeks (early 2011)." We had a chance to see an early build of Microsoft's copy/paste functionality in Windows Phone 7, and it looked pretty solid at the time. We'll keep you updated as we hear more.

Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Android 2.2 update rolling out now

Today Samsung is rolling out its Android 2.2 Froyo update to its Galaxy S i9000 smartphones. The update adds Google Maps with Navigation and voice guided directions, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, a setup wizard, and more. There's no update on when the Android 2.2 update will be pushed out to the U.S. Galaxy S devices.
