T-Mobile USA expands HSPA+ "4G" footprint

Today T-Mobile USA announced that it has launched its HSPA+ "4G" network in 8 more markets. The network is now available in Detroit, Mich.; Grand Junction, Colo.; Harlingen, Texas; Lafayette and South Bend, Ind.; Montgomery, Ala.; Roanoke-Lynchburg, Va. and Youngstown, Ohio. T-Mobile has two phones that take advantage of this network, including the T-Mobile G2 and the T-Mobile myTouch 4G.

HTC 7 Trophy Windows Phone 7 smartphone review

The HTC 7 Trophy is a Windows Phone 7 smartphone that features an HD capable 5 megapixel camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and a large 3.8-inch WVGA display. Russell tested it out for us and liked the UI, but ran into some Mac issues while putting together this review.

iOS 4.2 delivers full MobileMe calendar support to iPad

Today Apple said that its latest iOS 4.2 update for the iPad adds full MobileMe Calendar sync support. That support includes push-updates for calendar events and schedule changes. Apple released the iOS 4.2 update earlier today, which delivers a host of new features to the iPad including multitasking support as well as AirPlay and AirPrint capabilities. To update your iPad, connect it to your computer, open iTunes, select your iPad in the devices list, and choose "Check for updates."

Amazon Price Check app released for iOS devices

Today Amazon.com released its Price Check by Amazon application for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The app allows users to search by barcode, picture, voice, or text, to find the best deal on a product they are shopping for. Customers can also purchase the items directly from the application. Price Check by Amazon for iPhone is free and available in the iTunes App Store now.

AT&T says its data network is 20-60 percent faster than competitors

Google Sky Map for Android updated with time travel feature

Google has updated its Sky Map application for Android with a new time travel feature. The feature will allow you to see what the sky looked, or looks like, during different points in time. You can check the past or the future and rewind in various speeds to see how the sky changes. The updated Sky Map app is available free for smartphones running Android 1.6 or newer.

News Corp 'The Daily' iPad digital newspaper in the works

News Corp and Rupert Murdoch are currently working to launch an iPad-only digital newspaper called 'The Daily,' WWD is reporting. News Corp is reportedly working closely with Steve Jobs on The Daily, which will provide content for $0.99 per week. Reportedly, there will not be a print or web edition of the paper and it will only be available on the iPad. The project has been in the works for at least the past three months and News Corp plans to have a staff of 100 employees dedicated to the paper. The Daily is expected to be available in beta form by Christmas and will be available to the public in early 2011.

Verizon commercial pins December 4G LTE launch

A Verizon Wireless commercial that aired during Sunday Night Football last night said that Verizon will begin offering its 4G LTE network in December 2010. That's in-line with what the carrier has already said: that it will activate its 4G network in 38 markets during 2010.

Sony Ericsson may have PlayStation phone in the works

Sony Ericsson's CEO, speaking to The Wall Street Journal recently, hinted that a PlayStation phone could be in the works. He noted that he hopes Sony Ericsson will make some "noise" at Mobile World Congress, so it's possible the phone could make its debut there in February.

TiVo announces Apple iPad app

Today Tivo announced the official TiVo Premiere application for the iPad. TiVo Premiere allows TiVo DVR owners to search, browse, explore, and share content that's been recorded on their TiVo device at home. It allows you to stream video, check your program guide without interrupting your TV shows, schedule recordings, and more, all while on-the-go. The app will be available for free in the iTunes app store in the coming weeks.

Apple Find My iPhone service now free for iOS devices

Today Apple announced that its Find My iPhone service is now free without a MobileMe subscription. Find My iPhone is a free download in the App Store and allows users to locate their missing iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch on a map. They can also force the device to display a message, play a sound, remotely lock the device, or remotely wipe data from it. The service is available for the iPhone 4, iPad, and fourth generation iPod touch only.

600,000 Samsung Galaxy Tab devices sold globally

According to The Korea Herald, Samsung has sold 600,000 units of its Galaxy Tab Android tablet globally. The Galaxy Tab is currently available in over 30 countries across Asia, Europe, and North America. The Korea Herald said that 30,000 Galaxy Tab devices have been sold in Korea alone since November 30, and all of them have been sold by SK Telecom. T-Mobile announces BOGO Black Friday smartphone sale

Today T-Mobile announced that it will be offering a buy-one get-one (BOGO) smartphone deal on Black Friday. T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase a T-Mobile myTouch 4G or the Samsung Galaxy Tab and choose either another myTouch 4G, the T-Mobile G2, HTC HD7, BlackBerry Bold 9780, Motorola DEFY, Motorola CHARM, LG Optimus T, or T-Mobile Comet for free. The promotion will run from November 26 through January 18 and applies to all T-Mobile family plans, including legacy and Even More.

Verizon Wireless expands Skype mobile support

Today Verizon Wireless announced that Skype mobile is now available on more than 20 Verizon Wireless handsets. The latest devices to grab Skype support include the Pantech Crux, the LG Octane, and the Samsung Zeal. Customers can download the Skype application from the Verizon Wireless Media Center or from Get It Now. Skype mobile on Verizon Wireless allows users to place Skype calls over Verizon WIreless' circuit-switched voice network.
