| Dell confirms Venue Pro Wi-Fi issues, offers exchanges Posted: 11 Nov 2010 10:07 AM PST Dell has confirmed that there were some software issues with its Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 smartphone that prevented it from connecting to Wi-Fi networks properly. | RIM confirms BlackBerry Playbook to hit U.S. in Q1 Posted: 11 Nov 2010 10:01 AM PST RIM has confirmed its intentions to launch the BlackBerry PlayBook, its 7-inch tablet, during the first quarter of 2011. That's on schedule with its initial claims to launch it early in 2011. Bloomberg says that RIM also plans to sell the PlayBook in global markets during the second quarter of the year. RIM recently confirmed that the BlackBerry PlayBook will cost under $500, which is on a par with other tablet devices such as the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Read the full story here. |
| Color electronic paper displays debut in Japan from E Ink and LG Posted: 11 Nov 2010 07:26 AM PST During the Flat Panel Display International tradeshow in Japan this week, E Ink and LG Display were showing off color capable electronic paper displays. Both companies displayed 9.7-inch screens. According to PC World, the displays aren't as vivid as LCD displays and only provide a "dash of color." E Ink says its display shows 4,096 colors. Electronic paper displays do not provide light, which allows for much longer battery life. E Ink hopes its color displays will be used in markets for electronic textbooks or digital newspaper advertisements. Read the full story here. |

The Galaxy Tab is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, offers a 1.3MP camera for video chats and a secondary 3MP camera for photos, Flash 10.1 support, and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. | WSJ Android app launches for Samsung Galaxy Tab Posted: 11 Nov 2010 06:40 AM PST The Wall Street Journal released an Android application for Android tablets, more specifically the Samsung Galaxy Tab, yesterday. The application is available as a free download but requires a $3.99 weekly subscription for full access to its content after a trial period. We installed the app earlier this morning and like that it's possible to change the text size and more, but it feels a bit slow right now and more like a website than an app. Head to the Android Market to give it a whirl yourself. | Eco-friendly Motorola Citrus Android smartphone now available from Verizon Wireless Posted: 11 Nov 2010 05:50 AM PST The Android 2.1 powered Motorola Citrus smartphone is now available from Verizon Wireless. The phone features Motorola's MOTOBLUR social networking widgets and also sports the company's BACKTRACK navigation controller, which is a laptop-style touchpad controller. The earth-friendly Citrus has a body that is made partly from recycled plastics and comes in a package that's made up of 80 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
