Android-powered ViewSonic ViewPad 7e tablet comes to America for $200

ViewSonic is bringing its ViewPad 7e tablet stateside this month. The Android powered 7-inch tablet will come with a pricetag of $199.99, which is definitely easy on the wallet. The ViewPad 7e offers Google's Gingerbread OS, a 3MP rear-facing camera, and a VGA front-facing camera for video chats. The tablet also supports 1080p video playback, micro-HDMI output, and sports a 7-inch 800x600 LED backlit screen, 4GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion.

HTC + Dropbox official; 5GB of free storage for HTC owners

HTC has officially announced that it has partnered with cloud-storage company Dropbox, something we had heard mentioned in the recent past. Dropbox will come pre-installed on new HTC devices, and users will gain access to 5GB of free storage that can be accessed from their phone or other Dropbox-compatible device, such as a personal computer. Normal free Dropbox accounts provide only 2GB of storage.

Head of webOS developer relations Richard Kerris to leave HP

According to a source reporting to mobileRoundup, Richard Kerris, the vice president of worldwide developer relations at HP, is planning to leave the company. Though this may not be a big surprise to those that have followed the saga of webOS at HP, Kerris was one of the most vocal proponents of the flailing platform, and was frequently cited for news as to HP's plans for the webOS platform.

Windows Phone Mango-powered HTC Radar 4G coming to T-Mobile on November 2

T-Mobile has announced that the Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango" powered HTC Radar will be available in stores starting next Wednesday, November 2. The company says that the smartphone is expected to retail for $99.99 on contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate that comes in the form of a debit card. The HTC Radar features a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capability and a 3.8-inch, WVGA resolution touchscreen display. Q3 to show smartphone growth slowdown due to late arriving Apple iPhone 4S

Verizon exceeds target, covers 186 million with 4G LTE network

Today Verizon Wireless announced that its fourth generation LTE network now covers 186 million Americans, thanks to the 22 markets that were added last week. This beats the company's self-imposed target of 185 million people covered with Verizon 4G by the end of 2011. Considering that 13 additional cities are set to go live on November 17, Verizon seems positioned to not only meet that target, but blast right on by it. The addition of those 13 markets should bring Verizon's 4G LTE network to a total of 178 million people, and the company is hinting that even more markets could be added in December.

Owners of Nokia Symbian devices in the U.S. have some good news today, as the long-awaited Symbian Anna update is now available in America. Symbian Anna was announced this spring, and it offers a significant number of improvements over the Symbian^3 OS that preceded it, including new app icons and a portrait QWERTY keyboard. Owners of the Nokia N8, C7, C6-01, and E7 can download the update over-the-air or through the Nokia Suite on their PC.

Data traffic on AT&T's Wi-Fi network doubles over last year

Following last week's third-quarter financial results, AT&T has released some more stats about its network and its users' behavior. During the third quarter of 2011, AT&T's Wi-Fi network saw twice as much data traffic as Q3 2010, reflecting the impressive growth that smartphones and connected devices have seen in the past year. The carrier also trumpeted the fact that connections to its network of Wi-Fi hotspots nearly tripled over last year, with 100 million happening each month.

Nokia Maps gets offline option, transit directions for iOS, Android

Nokia has updated its Maps webapp for iOS and Android devices with new transit directions and offline caching. Users now have the ability to download map areas to their device so they don't need an internet connection to browse them. Nokia Maps can be accessed from the web browser of iOS and Android devices by navigating to m.maps.nokia.com.

Siri head leaves Apple after iPhone 4S launch

All Things D is reporting that Dag Kittlaus, the co-Founder and former CEO of Siri, has left Apple. Siri, the company, was bought by Apple in April of 2010 and is what powers the voice controlled Siri service found in Apple's new iPhone 4S. All Things D's sources claim that Kittlaus' departure, which supposedly took place immediately after the launch of the iPhone 4S, was both planned and on friendly terms. The sources claim that other key Siri executives are expected to stay on at Apple.

And another one bites the dust. This weekend, Microsoft announced a new patent licensing partnership with Compal, an original design manufacturer (ODM) of Android-powered smartphones and tablets. This new partnership means that Microsoft has licensing agreements with manufacturers that account for more than half of all Android devices produced.

HTC halting Listen music service at end of month

HTC has informed us that it is shuttering the MusicStation-powered Listen music store service found on T-Mobile's HTC Sensation on October 31. After that time, users will not be able to access the music store and any purchased tracks will need to be downloaded before October ends. HTC notes that tracks purchased from the service are DRM-free and will work in most any music player application and also reminds users that music tracks can still be purchased direct to the phone from the T-Mobile Mall.
