Google releases Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich SDK for developers Posted: 19 Oct 2011 12:06 AM PDT Google has made the Software Development Kit for the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system available for developers to work with. Ice Cream Sandwich represents the next phase of Android, as it blends elements of the tablet version of Android (Honeycomb), with the smartphone version (Gingerbread). It also includes a number of new features and enhancements, including a facial recognition unlock screen and new notification drawer. Developers can download the SDK from Google's developer portal now. The rest of us will have to wait until November when it launches with the Galaxy Nexus smartphone. Read the full story here. |

The latest device to bear the name RAZR is the lightest and thinnest LTE 4G smartphone in the world, and features a qHD resolution, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and a speedy dual-core, 1.2GHz TI OMAP processor. There are also some novel battery saving features, including the highly configurable Smart Actions system, and all of the functionality is protected by a steel internal frame, water-resistant coatings, and Corning Gorilla glass. Video: LG Marquee (Sprint) hardware and software tour Posted: 18 Oct 2011 08:14 AM PDT The LG Marquee for Sprint is the U.S. version of the Optimus Black that was released for global markets earlier this year. Though the Marquee has the same basic hardware as the Black, its software is much different. Video: HTC Amaze 4G (T-Mobile) 1080p HD video sample Posted: 18 Oct 2011 05:37 AM PDT Here's a sample 1080p HD video recorded with HTC's splendid Amaze 4G Android smartphone for T-Mobile USA. While we have been very impressed with the photographic abilities of the Amaze so far, the 1080p video appears to have a bit of stuttering/chop in it that has an impact on overall quality. Apart from that, the dual-core powered Amaze does a very good job at replacing a simple point and shoot camera - and, of course, is a fine phone as well. Watch the video here. |
