Nokia C3 S40 smartphone headed to Rogers Posted: 26 Aug 2010 04:52 AM PDT Nokia has updated its C3 overview page with a logo for Rogers, a sign that the S40 powered smartphone is headed to that carrier shortly. Rogers' contract pricing, and a release date, are currently unknown for the C3, which sports a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch display, WiFi, 3G connectivity, and a 2 megapixel camera. Netflix for iPhone and iPod touch now available Posted: 26 Aug 2010 04:45 AM PDT Today Netflix launched its iPhone and iPod touch client. The application, which has been available on the iPad for a few months and was announced in June, lets Netflix subscribers stream movies and T.V. shows from their "Instant Queue," down to their device. The software works over WiFi or 3G networks, and is available for free (providing that you have a Netflix account with instant streaming support), in the Apple iTunes App Store. Google's new Gmail calling feature offers free calls to the U.S. and Canada Posted: 25 Aug 2010 10:26 AM PDT Today Google announced that Gmail users can now call phones directly from their Gmail account. Calls to the U.S. and Canada are free "for at least the rest of the year," and Google says calls to other countries are priced at low rates. Calling the U.K., France, Germany, China, and Japan, for example, costs $0.02 per minutes. To use the feature, click "call phone," at the top of your chat list and dial a number. Adobe Photoshop Express 1.3 for Android adds video viewing capabilities, more Posted: 25 Aug 2010 10:21 AM PDT Adobe has updated its Photoshop Express Android client to version 1.3 The latest version allows users to view videos from their Photoshop.com (now re-branded Photoshop Express, also) library, and share videos via email. Verizon intros $80 prepaid unlimited mobile broadband plan Posted: 25 Aug 2010 09:18 AM PDT Verizon has introduced an $80 prepaid unlimited mobile broadband plan. The prepaid plan is ideal for those that don't want to sign a 2-year Verizon Wireless contract, and it works with Verizon Wireless' broadband modems, including the popular MiFi mobile hotspot. The new plan, however, is twice the price of Virgin Mobile's $40 unlimited Broadband2Go prepaid plan, which is launching in the next few days. Apple prepping $.99 TV shows for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch Posted: 25 Aug 2010 09:10 AM PDT Apple is preparing to begin offering television shows for $0.99, through iTunes, for its iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch products, Bloomberg says. Apple's decision to offer shows at a lower cost is a defensive move against Hulu and Netflix, both of which offer shows and movies for subscription prices. Episodes could be available within just 24 hours of their air date, and will be commercial free. Apple is working with Fox, CBS, NBC, and Walt Disney Co. Huawei expected to launch Ideos U8150 Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone Posted: 25 Aug 2010 08:18 AM PDT The news keeps coming in regarding next week's IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany. Huawei is expected to announce a new Android 2.2 smartphone, the Ideos U8150. The Ideos will feature WiFi and 3G HSDPA support for quick connectivity to the Internet, a large 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder, and GPS for navigation. Analysts: Apple iPad to rule tablet market through 2012 Posted: 25 Aug 2010 08:12 AM PDT iSuppli, a market intelligence firm, has a new report out which claims that the Apple iPad will maintain its majority rule over tablet sales through 2012. ViewPad Android tablets from ViewSonic to debut at IFA Posted: 25 Aug 2010 07:56 AM PDT Next week at IFA in Berlin, ViewSonic is expected to out two new Android tablets under the ViewPad moniker We are expecting a 7-inch and 10-inch versions of the device. The smaller 7-inch will feature 3G and WiFi connectivity as well as GPS, dual cameras, as well as USB and microSD support. QSL will focus on mobile communication, information and entertainment, discovery, life automation, and digital to physical interactions. Target "Bullseye Mobile" cell phone store launched Posted: 25 Aug 2010 06:03 AM PDT Today Target announced three new electronics services that it will begin offering, including Target Mobile, Target Electronics, and 1-877-myTGTech. Target Mobile will allow consumers to purchase cell phones and smartphones from AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in stores and online through a partnership with RadioShack. Target plans to offer Target Mobile centers in 850 stores by the end of the year and nationwide by mid-2011. It's unclear if the store will be marketed as "Target Mobile," as the company's press release said, or if it will go by the website's "Bullseye Mobile" moniker.
