Sprint Samsung Epic 4G Android WiMAX smartphone available August 31 Posted: 12 Aug 2010 04:37 AM PDT Today Sprint announced the pricing and availability date of its second 4G WiMAX smartphone, the Samsung Epic 4G. The Epic 4G will be available beginning on Tuesday, August 31 in all Sprint retail channels, as well as in RadioShack, Best Buy, and Walmart. Sprint stores will open at 8am local time on August 31. Apple outs iOS 4.0.2 PDF security fix for iPhone, version 3.2.2 for iPad Posted: 11 Aug 2010 12:33 PM PDT As expected, today Apple released iOS version 4.0.2 for the iPhone and iPod touch through iTunes. It provides a fix for "viewing a PDF document with maliciously crafted embedded fonts [that] may allow arbitrary code execution." The device runs Android 2.1 and sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen display. Although it retains the Milestone moniker, as a CDMA phone, the device is more akin to the Motorola DROID on Verizon Wireless. U.S. Cellular to launch HTC Desire Android smartphone on August 27th Posted: 11 Aug 2010 06:18 AM PDT This morning U.S. Cellular announced that it will launch the HTC Desire, an Android powered smartphone, on August 27th. The Desire sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera, and HTC's Sense user interface. Mobile phones, wireless devices, banned from U.S. prisons under new law Posted: 11 Aug 2010 05:47 AM PDT President Obama today officially signed a new law banning inmates from using cell phones and wireless devices in the U.S. prison system. Inmates found using mobile phones in prison could be sentenced to an extra year in jail. The ban is meant to prevent prison violence, particularly among gang members. Read the full story here. |

LG exhibiting on Mobile World Congress showfloor this year Posted: 11 Aug 2010 05:06 AM PDT According to GSM Association, which sent out an email today, LG will be one of the exhibitors on the Mobile World Congress showfloor this year in Barcelona, Spain. Last year the company decided, along with Nokia, not to have a booth presence at the event.
