BlackBerry Curve 3G, LG Cookie Plus, now available from Telus Posted: 13 Aug 2010 10:46 AM PDT Telus in Canada is now offering the LG Cookie Plus as well as the newly announced BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone. The GS500 Cookie Plus, a touchscreen feature phone, is the successor to the original LG Cookie and sports a graphical user interface that has a focus around social network connectivity with support for Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. The Curve 3G 9300 sports an optical trackpad, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, and a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 pixel display. Apple, Cisco, others sued by VirnetX for patent infringement Posted: 13 Aug 2010 08:55 AM PDT A company called VirnetX has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple, Astra Technologies, Cisco Systems, and NEC Corporation, according to Bloomberg. VirnetX alleges that the aforementioned firms each infringe on at least one of five patents involving virtual private networking. VirnetX won a $200 million settlement in a suit against Microsoft earlier this year which involved some of the same patents. Read the full story here. |

Dell Streak Android-powered tablet-esque smartphone now available Posted: 13 Aug 2010 06:42 AM PDT Today marks the availability of the Dell Streak for U.S. customers. The tablet-esque smartphone is available now for $299.99 with a 2-year AT&T contract or $549.99 retail. It should be noted that the Streak is not unlocked and is SIM-locked to AT&T. The store is operated and maintained by PocketGear, and both credit cards and PayPal payments are accepted. The storefront offers apps for BlackBerry, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Palm weBOS devices across multiple carriers and manufacturers.
