Verizon Wireless Motorola DROID X preorders begin at Best Buy Mobile

Today Best Buy announced that Verizon Wireless customers can begin preordering the Motorola DROID X Android smartphone today. The device will cost $199.99 with a 2-year contract and will be available in stores beginning on July 15th.

Apple and AT&T hit with class-action lawsuit for changing iPad 3G data plans

Three customers have filed a class-action lawsuit against AT&T and Apple for removing the option to have an unlimited 3G data plan with the Apple iPad 3G. The case was filed in San Jose, California.

This 720p HD video was shot with a Motorola DROID X for Verizon Wireless. Be aware that it was shot from a moving car, and as such there's obviously going to be some camera shake, but you should still be able to tell what kind of quality you could expect from the DROID X's camera by watching this.

Sprint to upgrade HTC EVO 4G to Android 2.2 Froyo

Today Sprint confirmed that it plans to launch Android 2.2 Froyo in the near future, and that it will upgrade the HTC EVO 4G specifically. Android 2.2 builds greatly on Android 2.1 and includes a host of compelling new features.

T-Mobile USA officially announces Samsung Vibrant smartphone with 1GHz processor

Last night, via Twitter, T-Mobile USA officially announced the Samsung Vibrant. We originally had a rumor published stating that the phone could be T-Mobile's variant of the Galaxy S, and the specs are beginning to line up even more. T-Mobile USA began revealing some of the specs to its followers and noted that it includes a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera, and HD video recording. All of those features are on a par with the Samsung Galaxy S, which the Vibrant is rumored to be a version of. We'll bring you the news on Tuesday when Samsung reveals more information on the Vibrant.

Apple responds to iPhone 4 antenna issues, suggests you hold the phone differently

There are reports that the iPhone 4 has some reception issues that occur when users hold the lower-left hand side of the phone, where the GSM/UMTS radio is. Apple has responded to concerns and said: "Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases."

Survey finds 77 percent of iPhone 4 sales were upgrades

A recent survey conducted by analyst firm Piper Jaffray found that 77 percent of iPhone 4 sales were to those upgrading from a previous version of the iPhone. The survey was not nationwide and only included three cities.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz U5a Symbian smartphone passes FCC on the way to AT&T

An AT&T-branded Sony Ericsson Vivaz U5a smartphone has been approved for use in the U.S. by the FCC. The phone runs on the Symbian^1 platform that is based upon Nokia's S60 5th Edition smartphone system.

U.S. Cellular: new Android and BlackBerry phones in 2010, including HTC Desire and a QWERTY BlackBerry flip phone

U.S. Cellular has announced that it plans to launch four Android phones during 2010. The first phone will be the Samsung Acclaim on July 9th. Later, in August, the carrier will launch the HTC Desire, a 1GHz Snapdragon powered device with 5 megapixel camera and WiFi. The other two phones weren't discussed. U.S. Cellular also added that it plans to launch the BlackBerry Bold in August, and a BlackBerry flip phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, although the carrier didn't reveal model numbers. U.S. Cellular is also planning to launch a touchscreen feature phone called the LG Banter Touch.

Hulu Plus subscriptions, iPad application, could be tested this month

Hulu may begin testing a subscription version of its services this month called Hulu Plus. The subscription will cost $10 per month and will, at first, include a small test audience. The Wall Street Journal also says that Hulu Plus could include support for an iPad client.

RIM's FYQ1 2011 report shows greater revenue, 11.2 million BlackBerry smartphones shipped

RIM has released its earnings for the first fiscal quarter of 2011. The company reported a 43 percent increase in BlackBerry smartphone sales, as well as increased revenues quarter over quarter as well as year over year.
