Today Sprint announced the 3G/4G USB 250U mobile broadband modem made by Sierra Wireless. The device offers dual-external antenna ports, and is free with a 2-year contract and a mail-in-rebate.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile now available for mobile platform partners

Today Adobe announced that it has released Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile to its mobile partners. Flash Player 10.1 will be available as a final production release in the Android Market just as soon as users are able to upgrade to Android 2.2 "Froyo," Adobe said. Some of Adobe's mobile platform content partners include HBO, MSNBC Digital Network, Turner, Sony Pictures, South Park Studios, USA Network, Viacom, and Warner Brothers.

SlingPlayer Mobile for Android now available

Sling Media recently announced that its SlingPlayer Mobile application, for streaming TV content to smartphones, is now available for Android devices. The software works provided that you have a 3G, 4G, or WiFi connection, and are connected to a Slingbox SOLO, PRO, or PRO-HD system. The application costs $29.99 in the Android Market and is available in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the U.K., an the U.S.

Apple iBooks now available on iOS 4 iPhone and iPod Touch devices

Apple's iBook app from the iPad is now available on iPhones and iPods that have been updated to iOS 4, which was released earlier today. iBooks allows users to easily download and read books on their devices, and the new version also adds PDF support, bookmarks, and improved stability and performance.

Microsoft Windows Live Messenger chat software now available for iPhone

Today Microsoft announced Windows Live Messenger for the iPhone. The chat software has a few social networking tie-ins, such as a "Social" tab that brings all of your friends' status updates and photos into one place. The software also lets you embed photos, links, and other content into status messages, and even "style" photos with built-in photo effects. Microsoft says the Windows Live Messenger for iPhone will soon support tie-ins with Facebook, LinkedIn, and MySpace. Windows Live Messenger is available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France. Some may experience a similar issue as we did here at MobileBurn, in which iTunes told us the software wasn't yet available in the U.S. We expect that will be fixed shortly.

Pandora for iPhone iOS 4 supports multitasking

Apple will release iOS 4 later today for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and the iPod touch, and Pandora says the latest version of its popular music streaming software will take advantage of iOS 4's multitasking capabilities. Pandora version 3.1 will include the ability to run Pandora in the background while you're doing other tasks, such as surfing the web or reading Facebook.

Verizon Wireless completes 4G LTE technical trials

During a conference call this week, Verizon Wireless said it has officially finished its technical trials of its 4G long term evolution networks (LTE), according to Tech Republic. The trials took place in Boston and Seattle. Verizon Wireless also said that it will begin "friendly user trials" of 4G LTE in five U.S. cities next.

Nearly all Palm webOS apps 50 percent off until July 9th

Apple iOS 4 rolling out today

Apple should be rolling out iOS 4 to iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch owners today. Apple announced the latest operating system, which includes multitasking support, on June 7th in tandem with the iPhone 4 and said that it would be available on June 21st. We expect the update to roll out later today, and to check if it's available, plug your iPhone or iPod touch into your computer using a USB cable.
