Display expert calls out Apple's "retina display"

In an interview with Reuters, display expert Ramon Soneira, who possesses a Ph.D in theoretical physics and has researched displays for 20 years, said that the iPhone 4's "retina display," was misleading to consumers.

iPhone 4 headed to Three in U.K.

Today Three announced that it will also offer the iPhone 4 in the U.K. The carrier said that preorders for the iOS 4 powered smartphone will begin on Tuesday, June 15th, and that the phone will be available on June 24th.

Palm Pixi Plus webOS smartphone now free on AT&T

Just days ago, AT&T added the Palm Pixi Plus to its smartphone lineup for $49.99 with a two-year contract. Today the carrier dropped the price and is now offering it free - with a two-year and instant online rebate. A $15/mo data plan is also required for the Pixi Plus.

Google upset with Apple's new advertising rules

Omar Hamou, founder of Google's AdMob, expressed concerns with Apple's new advertising policies for its iAd products. For one, developers won't be able to use Google's AdMob technology to advertise on Apple products. That's a big deal, considering AdMob ran one-third of the ads on Apple products in April.

White Jabra STONE Bluetooth headset available from AT&T today

Today Jabra announced that its STONE Bluetooth headset is now available in white in AT&T stores. The device will retail for $129.99. QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite for Android now available

Today QuickOffice Inc. launched QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite for Android smartphones running Android 1.6 or newer. QuickOffice for viewing documents has been available for over a year, but Connect Mobile Suite adds a few new features, such as the ability to edit Microsoft Office files and save them to cloud storage services including Apple MobileMe, Google Docs, Box.net, and Dropbox. The application is available in the Android Market.

HTC Wildfire Android smartphone preorders begin on Vodafone U.K.

Today Vodafone U.K. announced that its customers can begin preordering the HTC Wildfire for a June 15th delivery. The HTC Wildfire will be free with a minimum £20 ($28.94) monthly plan. The HTC Wildfire offers HTC's Sense user interface on top of Android 2.1, and includes a 5 megapixel camera as well as a 3.2-inch touchscreen.
