HTC Tattoo Android smartphone for Orange gets ROM Update, backup your phone first Posted: 01 Jun 2010 11:11 AM PDT Today HTC announced that there is a new update for those using its HTC Tattoo smartphone on Orange. The update requires a manual install using a computer, and will erase any data stored on the phone, so make sure you backup your data first. Nokia may have shipped fewer than 100,000 N900 smartphones in 5 months Posted: 01 Jun 2010 06:23 AM PDT According to new Gartner figures, Nokia shipped less than 100,000 N900 smartphones in the first 5 months that it was available. While that figure sounds low, Nokia's head of its solutions business, Alberto Torres said that sales substantially exceeded expectations. Dell Streak Android tablet available June 4 in the UK, free with contract Posted: 01 Jun 2010 06:18 AM PDT O2 and The Carphone Warehouse in the UK will begin offering Dell's recently announced Streak Android tablet on June 4 and will offer the new tablet free with either a 25 GBP/month broadband contract or a 35 GBP/month voice and unlimited data contract. Dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors now shipping Posted: 01 Jun 2010 05:10 AM PDT Today Qualcomm announced that it has begun sampling its first dual-core Snapdragon processors for smartphones, the Mobile Station Modem (MSM) MSM8260 and the MSM8660. Both processors have the ability to run at a clockspeed of up to 1.2GHz. The MSM8260 is designed for HSPA+ networks while the MSM8660 is for multi-mode HSPA+/CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. B networks. Both include a graphics processing unit (GPU) with 3D/2D acceleration engines, support for 1080p video encoding and decoding, low-power GPS, and support for 1280 x 800 resolution displays.
