RadioShack: Due to "insane demand" second round of HTC EVO 4G preorders begins tomorrow

Today RadioShack said that, due to "insane demand," preorders for the second round of EVO 4Gs will begin tomorrow. They will arrive in stores next Friday. The device launched on Sprint today and is the first 4G WiMAX smartphone in the United States.

Verizon V CAST video coming to Android on June 7

According to a tweet posted by our favorite local VZW rep in Philadelphia, Verizon is going to start offering V CAST video support on the Android platform starting on Monday, June 7. No other details are available at this time.

Software update available for HTC EVO 4G and HTC Hero

Today Sprint announced that it is issuing an over-the-air update for the HTC EVO 4G that corrects an issue with the microSD card that was issuing errors after photos were taken or when some users were accessing the card. There's also an update for the HTC Hero, although Sprint didn't detail what the update fixed or added. You can manually check for the update by going to Settings > System updates, and selecting HTC software update.

Samsung SPH-m570 Restore eco-friendly QWERTY phone lands on June 6 from Sprint

Samsung announced today that its eco-friendly SPH-m570 Restore will be available on Sunday, June 6th for $49.99 with a 2-year contract and after a $50 mail-in-rebate. The device will be available in two colors, midnight and limeade, and sports a full QWERTY keyboard. Its casing is made from 27 percent post-consumer recycled plastic and the entire handset is 84 percent recyclable.

HTC releases OTA firmware update for Desire and Legend

HTC's support site has announced that there is a new over the air firmware update for its Legend and Desire (formerly Bravo) Android-powered smartphones. This is not the Android 2.2 update users are hoping for, but rather an update to the existing 2.1 OS the phones already run.

Samsung Wave now available from Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK has announced that the highly anticipated Samsung S8500 Wave is now available on its network for free with monthly tariffs starting at 25 GBP. We're currently writing a review of the device, and already have posted two HD videos of the phone.

Qualcomm CEO: FLO TV not doing well

Qualcomm's CEO, Paul Jacobs, told the Wall Street Journal that his firm's FLO TV mobile digital television service has not done well, and that he sees the network being used for more general data delivery tasks in the future.
