LG GU292 phone spotted for AT&T

Our friends over at PhoneScoop have managed to spot a new entry level LG handset that is looking like it will soon be offered at AT&T. The new slider-styled phone offers mobile email and instant messaging, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a music player, aGPS, and push-to-talk (PTT). Pricing and availability have not been announced at this time.

Twitter settles privacy issues with FTC

Today the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said that Twitter had settled FTC charges that the company had put consumer privacy at risk. Twitter's security practices must now be assessed once every other year for the next ten years.

Samsung S8500 Wave washes ashore in Canada

Samsung Canada has put up a teaser page saying it will be offering the S8500 Wave smartphone this summer. The Wave is a bada OS powered device with a 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, email, social networking, and more. Video: Motorola DROID X video demo from the Verizon launch event

Here's a demo of the new Moto DROID X as presented to us at the official Verizon Wireless launch event in New York yesterday. The phone features a 4.3-inch display and a 720p HD capable camera. I'll be putting together a full hands-on video demonstrating the new resizable widgets and other features of the phone soon.

Twitter for iPhone updated for Apple iOS 4

The official Twitter for iPhone application now supports iOS 4 and its multitasking capabilities. Twitter for iPhone now offers more secure tweeting and photo/video posting, as well as support for the iPhone 4's Retina Display. It's available now for free from the Apple App Store.

Google: 160,000 Android smartphones activated daily

Google's VP of Engineering, Andy Rubin, announced that 160,000 Android smartphones are activated daily, which equated to about two phones every second. "Today, there are 60 compatible Android devices, delivered via a global partnership network of 21 OEMs and 59 carriers in 49 countries," Rubin added. Rubin announced the figure yesterday when he said that Google was also open-sourcing Android 2.2 "Froyo."
