Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch WiMAX smartphone now available from Sprint Posted: 16 Sep 2011 04:56 AM PDT The first version of the Samsung Galaxy S II to hit major U.S. carriers, the Epic 4G Touch, is now available for purchase from Sprint. For $199.99 and a new two-year agreement, you can get one of the most powerful smartphones available in the U.S. The Epic 4G Touch features a 4.52-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) Super AMOLED Plus disaplay, a dual-core, 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos processor with 1GB of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel) video. The phone also sports a front-facing camera, and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the latest version of Samsung's TouchWiz interface. Sprint cuts return policy from 30 days to two weeks Posted: 15 Sep 2011 11:25 AM PDT Sprint has announced that, effective September 16, its return policy will be cut from 30 days to 14. This is similar to the move that Verizon Wireless made a few months ago. Customers will now have two weeks to test out their new phones and service and still retain the ability to return them if unsatisfied. After 14 days, customers will not be able to return their phone without a contract termination fee. Additionally, Sprint is cancelling its "Free Guarantee" program that gave customers the option to try out Sprint's phones and service at no cost to them. Customers will now be required to pay for the service that they use, even if they return it within the 14 day return period. Read the full story here. |

Video: Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch (Sprint) video tour - part 1 of 2 Posted: 15 Sep 2011 10:54 AM PDT The Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch is the first version of the Galaxy S II smartphone to be available from a major U.S. carrier. It features a couple of upgrades over the original Galaxy S II that we reviewed earlier this year. Namely, the screen is now 4.52 inches across, though it is still a WVGA, Super AMOLED Plus unit (which is no bad thing). The Epic 4G Touch sports a 1.2GHz, dual-core Samsung Exynos processor and 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and has the latest version of Samsung's TouchWiz interface. On the back is an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and the front is home to a 2 megapixel camera for video chats. The rear camera can record video at 1080p HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution. Sprint will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on September 16 for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement. The retailer is featuring some special deals on certain high-profile handsets for the carrier to celebrate the launch. Samsung Infuse 4G gets minor software update, no Gingerbread to be found Posted: 15 Sep 2011 05:43 AM PDT AT&T is pushing a minor software update out to the Samsung Infuse 4G, though its not the one that users have been waiting for. Instead of upgrading the phone to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and hopefully a newer version of Samsung's TouchWiz interface, the update seems to just be a maintenance fix, and its difficult to tell what it actually offers. It could very well be an update to prepare the Infuse 4G for its promised Gingerbread upgrade, which is expected to arrive this fall. The update weighs in at about 14.5MB, and users can go to the About Phone section of the Settings app to download and install it. Read the full story here. |
