HP plans to split webOS software and hardware groups

Employees who have been with Palm, or those of us who have been watching the company, for the last decade or so might have a feeling of deja vu coming up, as internal documents have leaked that reveal HP's plans to split the software side of webOS from the hardware side, and merge it into the Office of Strategy and Technology. Prior to this, both webOS software and the now-canceled hardware division were under the webOS Global Business Unit in HP after the company effectively killed off the Palm name. This new move to split the two factions is very reminiscent of Palm's split of its software and hardware business almost 10 years ago, when the palmOne hardware company and PalmSource software companies were created.

HTC Jetstream 4G LTE Honeycomb tablet hits AT&T today

HTC's first Android Honeycomb tablet, the 10.1-inch Jetstream, is now available for purchase from AT&T. The Jetstream is also the first 4G LTE tablet available from AT&T, though it has yet to actually launch its LTE network. The Jetstream runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb with HTC's Sense interface for tablets, and it has support for HTC's Scribe pen input system. The Jetstream is powered by a dual-core, 1.5GHz processor, and has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. You can pick up the feature-packed tablet today for a steep $849.99 without a contract, or for $699.99 if you sign up for two years of data service on the tablet.

LG Thrill 4G glasses-free 3D smartphone now available from AT&T

The LG Thrill 4G, AT&T's version of LG's Optimus 3D smartphone, is now available for purchase from the carrier. The Thrill 4G features a 4.3-inch, glasses-free 3D display, along with dual 5 megapixel cameras for capturing 3D stills and video. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo with LG's custom user interface, and is powered by a dual-core, 1GHz processor. Interested buyers can pick up the Thrill 4G for $99.99 with a new two-year contract from AT&T.
