AT&T cancels A-List calling feature for new customers Posted: 02 Sep 2011 04:32 AM PDT In a move that will surely not win it any points with consumers or federal regulators, AT&T has confirmed that the A-List calling feature, which allowed customers to pick 5 or 10 number to make free, unlimited calls to, has been canceled. The change is effective immediately and applies to new customers signing up for AT&T service. Read the full story here. |
Video: HTC Titan Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone video first look Posted: 02 Sep 2011 12:32 AM PDT The HTC Titan smartphone is one of two new Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) devices that HTC have unveiled today in various locations across Europe. The Titan features a huge 4.7-inch WVGA resolution display and an 8 megapixel camera with a 28mm lens and f2.2 aperture for wide angle and low light photography. It can also capture 720p HD video, and has a speedy 1.5GHz processor and 16GB of built-in storage, as well as Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, and DLNA support. Watch the video here. |

It features specifications that are similar to the Trophy that was released last year, though it does have a couple of upgrades, most notable being a front-facing VGA camera. Nokia gives up 2,000 patents to Mosaid Posted: 01 Sep 2011 12:38 PM PDT Mosaid Technologies has announced that it is acquiring 2,000 patents and patent applications that were originally owned or filed by Nokia. The patents cover a number of wireless technologies, and were acquired through the purchase of Core Wireless Licensing. The deal that Mosaid struck with Nokia and its partner Microsoft is rather unique. Mosaid will put up the cost to administer and enforce the patents, and it will be able to keep one-third of the royalties generated from licensing the patents. The other two-thirds of the proceeds will go to Nokia and Microsoft. Mosaid expects the deal to generate more revenue than it has seen in the company's total 30 year history. H2O Wireless offers yet another $60 unlimited pre-paid option Posted: 01 Sep 2011 09:05 AM PDT H2O Wireless, purveyor of pre-paid cellular services, has announced another plan option in its portfolio. The MVNO is now offering a $60 per month unlimited plan that gives users unlimited talk, text, and web usage, plus international calling. Motorola DROID 2 Gingerbread update finally making its way to users Posted: 01 Sep 2011 06:38 AM PDT Owners of the Motorola DROID 2 smartphone no longer need to be jealous of those who have the global version of their phone, as the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the original DROID 2 is finally making its way to users' phones. The update brings Android 2.3.3, and includes the usual Gingerbread upgrades along with a newer version of Motorola's don't-call-it-BLUR interface.
