Samsung announces ChatOn Instant Messaging service

According to Reuters, Samsung has announced that it will launch a new Instant Messaging system for its mobile devices. To be available starting in October of this year, the new service is to be called ChatOn and will be available not only on the company's Android and bada smartphones, but also on the company's feature phones. Mobile based messaging systems have been gaining public attention of late, with competitors to RIM's BlackBerry Messenger group messaging system appearing in great numbers over the past 9 months. For its part, Apple will introduce its own iMessage mobile group messaging system formally with the final release of iOS 5 for its iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices this fall.

Samsung further delays Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia due to Apple suit

Samsung this morning announced that it will further delay the introduction of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet to the Australian market until at least the week of September 26. The company says that it is doing so because of an ongoing hearing that is taking place as part of the suit that Apple filed against it in that country. The suit claims that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet infringes upon Apple patents. The court is expected to make its ruling during that last week of September. So far the court has issued no injunctions against Samsung's tablet, and Samsung is withholding the device from the Australian market voluntarily.

Sprint employees to answer "No comment" on iPhone 5 rumors

A copy of what is believed to be a leaked Sprint internal memo instructs the number 3 carrier's employees to issue what amounts to a "no comment" response to questions about the Apple iPhone 5 becoming available in the near future. The Wall Street Journal claimed that Sprint would offer the iPhone 5 in a story that ran last week.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE tablet official, release date unknown

Following the Galaxy S II LTE, Samsung has also made the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE tablet official before its formal unveiling at IFA this week. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE is the same 8.9-inch tablet that we saw way back at CTIA this spring, but with fancy new 4G LTE powers.

Samsung Galaxy S II LTE smartphone officially official

Samsung has made the Galaxy S II LTE smartphone that we learned about late last week official, ahead of its unveiling at the IFA technology trade show in Berlin, Germany later this week. The Galaxy S II LTE features a number of upgrades over its non-4G brother, aside from just the faster data connection.
