Google will buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, become a real phone maker

Google has decided to make some heads explode this morning, as it has announced its intentions to purchase Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in cash. Motorola has been Google's biggest supporter of the Android platform since 2009 when the original DROID was released, and Google stands to gain a large amount of patents with the purchase, which will aid it in the on-going litigation that Android faces.

BlackBerry Management Center lets small businesses control smartphone information

RIM has introduced a new cloud-based service that should make it easier for small businesses to manage data on the smartphones their employees are using. The new BlackBerry Management Center is akin to a "junior" BlackBerry Enterprise Server, as it gives a central place for businesses with fewer than 100 smartphones in use to manage security and data on the handsets.

RIM says future 4G PlayBooks to focus on LTE, not WiMAX

In what appears to be a direct response to Sprint's Friday announcement that it will not offer a WiMAX 4G version of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to its customers, Research In Motion released a statement that said future 4G PlayBook development would be focused on LTE network compatibility.

AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G Gingerbread update landing this month

According to AT&T's Twitter page, the carrier is expected offer the latest Android operating system, 2.3 Gingerbread, to its Infuse 4G owners later this month. Sounds like good news for the Infuse owners that have been waiting to get the official boost to next OS level.
