New YouTube for Android offers editing options for uploaded videos Posted: 09 Aug 2011 04:54 AM PDT Google has released an update to the YouTube app for Android smartphones that gives users more options and control over the videos that they upload directly from their phones. Version 2.2.14 now allows users to edit the title, description, and privacy settings of uploaded videos, and offers a new UI for uploading videos from a phone. Video playlists can now be created or edited directly from a phone, and Google promises various other bugfixes and performance improvements throughout the app. The update for YouTube for Android is available in the Android Market now. VEVO music video player for BlackBerry PlayBook now available Posted: 08 Aug 2011 02:08 PM PDT The VEVO music video player that has been available for iOS and Android for some time has finally made its way over to the BlackBerry PlayBook. HTC Inspire 4G Gingerbread update available now Posted: 08 Aug 2011 12:56 PM PDT The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T is now available to download and install. Apparently HTC started rolling out the update on August 4, but didn't bother to tell anybody of its actions until today. Regardless, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update brings all of the usual Gingerbread goodies, including improved system performance and better battery life reporting, in addition to an updated version of HTC's Sense interface. U.S. Cellular 4G LTE network, tiered data on track for November Posted: 08 Aug 2011 10:04 AM PDT During the conference call for U.S. Cellular's Q2 2011 financial results, the carrier let loose some future plans that it has for its network and service plans. LightSquared signs roaming deal with pre-paid ClearTalk service Posted: 08 Aug 2011 08:09 AM PDT LightSquared is not letting up on forging partnerships despite the fact that its forthcoming 4G LTE network has yet to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Google motions to block incriminating email from courtroom Posted: 08 Aug 2011 07:14 AM PDT An incriminating email message has been revealed in the Oracle case against Google, which claims that Google's Android operating system has violated a number of Oracle's patents that pertain to Java. According to the email, Google was aware of the violations and elected to go ahead with releasing Android without paying a license fee or using other methods. Google has attempted to block the email from being used as evidence in the courtroom, but since it has been revealed to the public already, that may be easier said than done. Android users could be plagued with "pop-up apps" claim security researchers Posted: 08 Aug 2011 06:35 AM PDT According to security researchers presenting at Defcon this year, the Android operating system is vulnerable to pop-up ads and fishing attacks thanks to the way it is designed. Malicious apps have the ability to read what app the user is running, and then "pop" in front of that app to intercept the user's information. Read the full story here. |
iOS, Android security flaw shown by 10-year-old girl at Defcon Posted: 08 Aug 2011 06:03 AM PDT A 10-year-old girl has figured out a way to outsmart game developers and cheat at games designed for iOS and Android by exploiting a security vulnerability within the clock system. Apple iPad expected to hold 60 percent of tablet market through 2020 Posted: 08 Aug 2011 05:46 AM PDT You might be able to chalk this up to another bold prediction from an analyst, but according to Charlie Wolf, analyst at Needham, Apple's ubiquitous iPad tablet will still be dominating the market 9 years from now.
