BlackBerry Torch 9810 now available from AT&T for $49.99 Posted: 21 Aug 2011 10:39 AM PDT Not to be left out of the new BlackBerry party, AT&T has started selling the BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphone today. The Torch 9810 may look very similar to last year's Torch 9800, but it has received some significant upgrades under the hood. For starters, the processor has doubled in speed to 1.2GHz, and the 9810 now sports 768MB of RAM. The screen resolution has increased from HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) to full VGA (480 x 640 pixel), and the display is all the better for it. The Torch 9810 runs the newest BlackBerry 7 OS, and it is capable of recording 720p HD video with its 5 megapixel camera. Be sure to check out our full review of the Torch 9810, and then head over to AT&T to pick one up for $49.99 with a new two-year contract if you are interested. Read the full story here. |
Video: Samsung Conquer 4G (Sprint) smartphone hands-on video tour Posted: 21 Aug 2011 09:58 AM PDT The Samsung Conquer 4G is the first WiMAX smartphone from Sprint to be released at a price point south of $100 on contract. Because of this lower price point, the Conquer 4G does not have the most up-to-date specs or the largest screen on the market. Its 1GHz Snapdragon processor and bone-stock build of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread is no slouch though, and get the job done for most intents and purposes. The 3.5-inch screen is HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) resolution, but it appears to be noticeably granier and more pixelly than one would expect for a screen of this size. The Conquer 4G has a 3 megapixel rear camera, with flash and autofocus, and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. It does not record HD video, however. The Conquer 4G will be available from Sprint for $99.99 on-contract on August 21. Watch the video here. |
Sprint offers BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone for $149 today Posted: 21 Aug 2011 08:16 AM PDT As with the BlackBerry Bold 9930, Sprint has made the BlackBerry Torch 9850 available for purchase today. The Torch 9850 is the spiritual successor to the Storm series of all-touchscreen BlackBerry smartphones, and is the first all-touch BlackBerry to be carried by Sprint. It packs a 3.7-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) display, a 1.2GHz processor, and the new BlackBerry 7 OS. Sprint is offering the Torch 9850 for $149.99 on a new two-year contract, but with the Bold 9930 being offered for only $50 more, it would be hard to get us to spring for the Torch 9850. You should be able to purchase the Torch 9850 in Sprint stores and online today. Read the full story here. |
BlackBerry Bold 9930 now available from Sprint for $199 Posted: 21 Aug 2011 07:40 AM PDT Sprint has followed Verizon Wireless' lead and has launched its own version of the BlackBerry Bold 9930 smartphone, one of the three new BlackBerry OS 7 devices recently announced by RIM. However, instead of asking $249.99 for the phone with a new two-year contract, as originally announced, the carrier is offering it for a more palatable $199.99. That price grabs you what is arguably the best designed BlackBerry to date, with gorgeous hardware, fantastic keyboard, and a touchscreen thrown in for good measure. Of course, you still have to put up with RIM's archaic BlackBerry OS, but to each his own. The $199.99 price is listed as web-only special, so jump on it before Sprint decides to change its mind and bump the price up to previously announced levels. Read the full story here. |
Samsung Conquer 4G entry-level WiMAX smartphone now available from Sprint Posted: 21 Aug 2011 06:31 AM PDT The Samsung Conquer 4G, the latest WiMAX-equipped smartphone from Sprint, is now available to purchase from the carrier for $99.99 with a new two-year contract. Sprint is positioning the Conquer 4G as an entry-level WiMAX phone, and it has priced it accordingly. Despite its low-level status in the Sprint WiMAX family, the Conquer 4G still packs a bit of a punch, with its 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Rounding out the specs are a 3.5-inch, HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) screen, a 3.2 megapixel rear camera, and 1.3 megapixel front camera. You can purchase the Conquer 4G in Sprint stores or online now.
