Skype for iPad leaked out in demo video

A demo video of the upcoming, yet-to-be-available Skype app for the iPad was posted and then subsequently removed from Skype's YouTube channel, but not before an enterprising viewer grabbed a silent video of it.

HTC ThunderBolt wireless charging cover now available

Droid Life is reporting that the wireless charging battery door for the HTC ThunderBolt that was spotted way back in April has finally made to Verizon Wireless stores and is now available for purchase. The price of wireless charging freedom is $29.99, though you will also need the Wireless Charging Pad to make it work, which will set you back $69.99. We could not find the wireless charging back on Verizon's website, so you might want to call your local store to make sure they have it available before making the trek down there.

Isis NFC mobile payments adds Austin as launch market

Isis, the mobile payments joint venture between AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile has announced that Austin, Texas is the next market to follow Salt Lake City, Utah in the initial launch of the program. The group stated that Austin residents will be able to use Isis-enabled, NFC-equipped mobile phones to make purchases at various merchants throughout the city starting in the first half of 2012. Isis is counting on the tech-savvy nature of Austin residents to adopt the new system and push it into the mainstream.

Card.io makes credit cards payments on a smartphone easy

A new startup named card.io is looking to make it easier to purchase things on a smartphone and pay with the credit card in your pocket. The software from card.io will use the camera on a smartphone to enter in credit card data, eliminating the need for a user to type things in manually.

Facebook for Android updated with video uploads

Facebook for Android has received a minor update to version 1.6 that adds a few features that users have been looking for. Version 1.6 finally allows users to upload videos to their Facebook account directly from their Android smartphone or tablet. The update is also said to include the ability to access Pages, but we are not able to on the numerous devices that we updated to the latest version, so your mileage may vary. Finally, Facebook claims to have made improvements to the News Feed as well. We are still waiting for some key features, like photo tagging and comment liking, but its nice to see that the Facebook app for Android is progressing, albeit slowly. Facebook for Android is free and available in the Android Market now.
