HTC Sensation offered on O2, Orange through Carphone Warehouse

As of right now, Vodafone is the only carrier in the UK that offers the HTC Sensation. Those who cannot wait for the dual-core phone to hit other carriers can go to Carphone Warehouse, as the reseller has set up pre-order pages for the HTC Sensation on both Orange and O2. Unfortunately, a shipping date is not given, though we suspect that it can't be too far off.

Verizon says Samsung Galaxy S II not coming in July

Contradicting Computerworld's earlier report, a spokesperson for Verizon Wireless has confirmed with us that the carrier did not claim that a version of Samsung's Galaxy S II will be available on its network in July. Rather, an LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet is due to arrive that month. This does not mean that Verizon will never carry the Galaxy S II, but that it has not confirmed it for a July release.

Apple bans DUI checkpoint warning apps from App Store

Following a request from U.S. Senators from a few months ago that petitioned Apple and Google to remove apps from their respective application stores that warned users of DUI checkpoint locations, Apple has gone ahead and banned those types of apps from its iTunes App Store.

Verizon, U.S. Cellular looking to trade spectrum

Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular have submitted a request to the FCC for a swap of spectrum holdings in various states. Verizon wants to give U.S. Cellular some of its 700Mhz spectrum holdings in Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington in exchange for 1900Mhz PCS spectrum that U.S. Cellular has in Illinois and Indiana. The swap is said to benefit both carriers, as Verizon will be able to provide better coverage and support in those areas, while U.S. Cellular will be able to branch out to new markets.

Verizon to get Samsung Galaxy S II in July

According to Computerworld, Verizon Wireless has confirmed plans to release a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II Android smartphone in July. Verizon Wireless is the first U.S. carrier to acknowledge that it will be carrying the dual-core flagship smartphone from Samsung that has been available in other parts of the world for a short while.

Sprint protects against liability by reducing voting stake in Clearwire

Sprint has reportedly lowered its voting stake in Clearwire in an attempt to limit liability should Clearwire take on more debt in the future. Sprint now has a 49.8 percent voting stake in the company, though it still owns 54 percent of Clearwire's shares. The lower voting stake prevents the SEC from considering Clearwire a subsidiary of Sprint.

Sony S1 Android tablet passes through FCC with AT&T 3G support

Sony's upcoming Android tablet, the S1, has made its way through the FCC's approval process, and apparently has support for HSPA+ on AT&T. This could point to a 3G version being released on AT&T, though it could also just be support for Rogers up in Canada. No word on exactly when the S1 will be hitting the market, though Sony had previously promised it, along with its S2 sibling, for this year.

Samsung's eco-friendly Replenish is the first UL environment certified mobile phone

The Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has announced that the Samsung Replenish smartphone is the first mobile phone to get the UL's environmentally certified stamp of approval. The Replenish, which is made of primarily recycled and biodegradable materials, has been given the Platinum rating, meaning it has achieved the highest level of environmental performance available. The UL ISR 110 is a set of tests and requirements that measure environmentally sensitive materials, energy management, manufacturing and operations, impact to health and environment, product performance, packaging, and product stewardship in order to determine a device's impact on the environment

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an 8.6mm thin Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet. As its name suggests, it features a 10.1-inch display, which offers 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The version seen in this video is the 16GB Wi-Fi only white model, but 32GB and gray versions are also available while 3G-capable Tabs will be on the market eventually.
