Skype 2.0 for Android brings two-way video calls to select phones Posted: 30 Jun 2011 05:09 AM PDT Skype has announced version 2.0 of its Android app that finally brings the long-awaiting two-way video calling feature that iOS uses have enjoyed since last December. There is a catch, though, and its a big one. Only four phones are currently supported: HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro, and the Google Nexus S. Facebook for Android gets behind the scenes UI update Posted: 29 Jun 2011 03:26 PM PDT Facebook for Android was recently updated to version 1.6 that added features like video uploading but no apparent UI changes or improvements. It seems that it has taken a few days for some other, unannounced new features to take effect, as reports around the web have said that there is a new interface for navigating the News Feed. Samsung Galaxy S II headed to Bell in Canada, at some point Posted: 29 Jun 2011 01:46 PM PDT Samsung's Galaxy S II wunderphone is coming to Canada via Bell. We just don't know when. The dual-core powerhouse has been teased on a new page that advertises a contest to win one of the flagship phones, but no price or release date has been revealed. The winner of the contest will be selected on July 19, so you can extrapolate from that what you will. Motorola DEFY on T-Mobile UK finally getting Android 2.2 Froyo Posted: 29 Jun 2011 08:04 AM PDT Most owners of the Motorola DEFY in the UK have probably already received the update to Android 2.2 Froyo that was released a few weeks back, but those who happen to have bought their DEFY through T-Mobile have been left in the lurch. They shouldn't be upset for too much longer, though, as T-Mobile has announced that users can expect the update to roll out at the beginning of July. Android 2.2 Froyo brings a number of improvements, including faster performance and the ability to move apps to the SD card. T-Mobile users will probably be happy to get the latest and greatest from April 2010, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2.3 Gingerbread update for the DEFY. Read the full story here. |
