The Android Gingerbread 2.3 powered Black is being offered for free with a GBP25.54 per month two year service agreement, which gets you 300 minutes, 300 texts, Internet, and Flexible Booster. The Optimus Black sports a speedy 1 GHz TI processor under the hood, a massive 4-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera/camcorder with 720p HD video recording as well as a 2 megapixel user facing camera for video chat. Google Chromebooks powered by Three UK 3G

Three UK will be offering high-speed 3G data connectivity to Google's recently announced Chromebooks. This week in San Francisco, Google announced it will offer a new range of computers built and optimized specifically for the internet, and now Three has stepped forward to say they have partnered with the web giant to bring 3G data connectivity to the new notebook lineup in the United Kingdom.

LG hits the road with its smartphones in the UK

Adobe Flash Player 10.3 for Android now available

Adobe has just pushed out an update to its Flash Player for Android smartphones and tablets, bringing the version up to 10.3. There doesn't appear to be any new features, as this is primarily an update to fix bugs. Users of Samsung Galaxy S phones, the HTC EVO 4G, and certain Motorola devices should see some performance improvements. The update is available to download in the Android Market now.

Huawei wins one battle against ZTE, war not over

Huawei has won one of the lawsuits against ZTE in Germany that it filed earlier this month. The court has awarded Huawei an injunction against ZTE that will prevent ZTE from selling its USB modems in Germany. Huawei's original lawsuit cited patent infringements on 4G LTE data technologies as well. The company has filed similar lawsuits in France and Hungary. ZTE is not taking this lying down, as it claims that the suit is without merit and is an attempt to interfere with its business in Europe. ZTE filed counter-suits at Huawei, claiming patent infringements, in China.

ViewSonic to unveil 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet this month

UK's Pocket-Lint is reporting that ViewSonic is readying up the industry's first 7-inch tablet that will offer Google's latest and greatest Android Honeycomb OS. The ViewPad 7x, as it's expected to be named, sports a speedy dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor chip, HSPA+ connectivity, user and rear facing cameras, and HDMI support. The tablet is expected to weigh in at 380g (13.4oz). The ViewSonic 7x is thought to be making its debut later this month at Computex in Taipei.

Motorola just announced via Twitter that users of its Wi-Fi only Motorola XOOM Android tablets can expect to see updates to the newly announced Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS rolling out starting today. The updates will be sent in phases, so not all users will receive the opportunity to upgrade right away. The new OS revision refreshes the user interface and many of the core applications.

The HP Veer 4G is one of the smallest (if not THE smallest) smartphones we have ever laid hands on. This diminutive device has a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It runs webOS 2.1.2 and features an 800MHz processor. The camera offers 5 megapixels of resolution, but does not feature autofocus or a flash. The Veer 4G will be available from AT&T on May 15 for $99.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Android takes over the smartphone market in Japan

A new study of the Japanese smartphone market has revealed that the Android OS now has 57 percent of the market. Android grew from 11 percent to 57 percent in one year, with 4.91 million Android devices shipping, as opposed to 250,000 the previous year. Apple's iPhone is still the most popular single smartphone in Japan though, commanding 38 percent of the market.

LG Apex for U.S. Cellular finally gets its Froyo

The LG Apex, a landscape slider smartphone for U.S. Cellular, is finally getting an update to Android 2.2 Froyo. The Apex was launched last November with Android 2.1 Eclair, and is very similar to the LG Ally on Verizon Wireless. It has a 3.2-inch, WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) touchscreen and a landscape QWERTY keyboard. Owners will have to download and install the file manually, as U.S. Cellular does not offer over-the-air updates. Hey, its worth it if you have waited this long for Froyo, right?

Visa's virtual wallet for smartphones to arrive this fall

Visa has announced that its mobile payment initiative that would create a virtual wallet to be used by smartphones will launch this fall. The wallet will allow smartphone users to purchase items with their phones instead of using a physical card. It will require phones to have NFC support and will only work with compatible terminals. The major U.S. carriers all have plans to introduce similar systems, with Sprint intending to be the first out of the gate this year.

Italian Samsung Galaxy Tab owners getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread update

It appears that owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in Italy are the first ones to get the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the tablet. The Galaxy Tab was introduced last year with Android 2.2 Froyo, but was promised to be updated to 2.3 by Samsung. Italian owners will have to use the Kies software tool with the Tab connected to a computer to install the Gingerbread goodies. Other countries should be getting the update soon as well.
