Sprint responds to AT&T/T-Mobile deal Posted: 21 Mar 2011 05:43 AM PDT As expected, Sprint has issued a statement regarding the merger between AT&T and T-Mobile USA, and it's not too happy about it. Sprint remarked that the merger would "dramatically alter" the market and insisted that government regulators take a hard look at the deal. It went on to say that if the merger were to be successful, 80% of the post-paid market in the U.S. would be controlled by two vertically-integrated companies. It urged the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice to look into what is best for the consumer when reviewing the deal. AT&T has stated that the merger would still leave a competitive market for wireless carriers in the U.S. and is confident the deal will go through within the next 12 months.
