Apple iPad 2 Wi-Fi 3G to be offered by Orange UK

Orange UK has announced it will offer Apple's iPad 2 tablet to its customers. The iPad 2 is a thinner, lighter, and more powerful tablet than the original. It's also now outfitted with a forward facing camera for video chat, and a secondary camera for snapping photos and recording HD video. Pricing for the device and Orange's dedicated data plans will be announced in the coming weeks according to the carrier.

Philadelphia area university offering cell phone photography class

Immaculata University in Philadelphia is now offering students a class on "Cell Phone Photography", believe it or not. The class is taught by Assistant Professor Sean Flannery and professional photographer Hunter Martin. The class focuses on not only the photographic techniques required when shooting photos with a cell phone, but also deals with the ethical issues and "citizen jounalism" aspects of their use.

Motorola confirms rooted XOOM tablets to get LTE 4G upgrade

Motorola, by way of its support forums, has said that it will attempt to upgrade all XOOM tablets, even those rooted, when it comes time for users to send in their devices for the LTE 4G upgrade for Verizon Wireless' network. Previously it had been thought that the company would not upgrade rooted devices. The Motorola support forums do recommend, however, that the original XOOM software be re-loaded before sending the device in, but says that the company will install the hardware upgrade even if it is unsucessful installing the software on a rooted XOOM.

Google initiates remote kill switch on malicious Android apps

Google has responded to last week's detection of 21 malicious applications in the Android Market by initiating the remote kill switch function that is built into Android, automatically removing the apps from all devices. The company has also issued a patch to undo the damage caused by the applications.
