GroupMe messaging for BlackBerry now available in beta Posted: 19 Mar 2011 09:59 AM PDT Popular group messaging app GroupMe has released a beta version of its app for BlackBerry phones. Winner of Best Messaging App at South By Southwest this year, GroupMe is already available for iPhone and Android users. It allows users to organize and execute group chats over text messaging. It creates a unique phone number for each group, and then when a message is sent to that phone number, GroupMe forwards the message to all members of the group. If the unique phone number is called, it will ring all the members of the group and set up a conference call. The app is free, however it will use minutes and text messages out of your current plan. GroupMe Beta for BlackBerry is available in the BlackBerry App World right now. Read the full story here. |
Android app lets you sync with iTunes over-the-air for free Posted: 19 Mar 2011 08:42 AM PDT Music WithMe is an Android app that allows you to sync your Android phone with your iTunes music library over 3G or Wi-Fi. It requires a helper application to be installed on your Windows or Mac computer, but that's a small price to pay to be able to sync your phone with your iTunes music library anywhere you are. Music WithMe is available in the Android Market now. The helper application can be downloaded here. Read the full story here. |
iPad pricing drops to new lows at AT&T Posted: 19 Mar 2011 08:10 AM PDT AT&T has applied further discounts to the original Apple iPads that it has left in stock. While it looks like the 32GB is gone for good, you can score some major bargains on a 16GB or 64GB model. The 16GB with 3G is now selling for the low price of $429 and the 64GB rendition, also with 3G, is going for a bargain basement price of $529. If you are in the market for a tablet and don't mind using last year's (albeit very capable) model, head on over to AT&T and grab yourself a deal. Read the full story here. |

Google adds Japanese speech support to Translate app Posted: 19 Mar 2011 05:30 AM PDT Google has today released an experimental version of the Google Translate for Android application with support for Japanese, in an effort to give non-Japanese speakers a way to reach out towards those suffering, as well as offer a platform from which the Japanese can communicate with us. Google has called this release Google Translate Japan Crisis Response. The Android application automatically translates text between different languages, and alongside Japanese, supports more than 50 other languages. Furthermore, Google Translate for Android has a Conversation Mode feature, which allows voice translation between English, Spanish, and now, Japanese, too.
