ASUS plans to update Transformer Pad tablets to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

ASUS confirmed to The Verge today that it plans to release updates for its Transformer Pad line of Android tablets that will upgrade them from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Eee Pad Transformer, Transformer Prime, and Transformer Pad Infinity are all slated to get the update, which is due to arrive in the "coming months." ASUS says that more specific information about the timing of the updates will be provided closer to their release dates.

Email app Sparrow purchased by Google

Sparrow, maker of a popular email app for iOS (and Mac OS), has just announced that it has been purchased by Google. Sparrow was popular among Gmail users because of its support for Gmail's system of Labels and Archiving. The company says that it is joining the Gmail team at Google to "accomplish a bigger vision," but that its current apps will still be available and support will still be provided to users. Unfortunately, the team at Sparrow says that doesn't include adding new features to its existing apps. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Nokia Drive for Lumia smartphones updated to version 3.0, gets new My Commute feature

Nokia has revealed that a new version of its Nokia Drive app for Lumia smartphones will soon be available. Version 3.0 of the Drive app adds a new My Commute feature that learns a user's typical commute and alerts them to traffic conditions and delays on the route.
