Android 4.0 ICS update now available for Samsung Galaxy S II on U.S. Cellular [updated]

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 01:53 PM PDT

Samsung completed its roll out of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the American versions of the Galaxy S II today, as it made the update available for U.S. Cellular's version of the phone. The update brings Android 4.0.4 and Samsung's custom user interface, and can be downloaded from Samsung's website. Unfortunately, at this time you need a Windows computer to apply the update, and unlike the update for Sprint's Galaxy S II released earlier today, the one for the U.S. Cellular model will not be available over-the-air. Head to the source link for instructions on how to get started. UPDATE: As noted in the comments, this update appears to not actually be Android 4.0, but is a fix for GPS issues in Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It looks like U.S. Cellular customers will have to wait just a bit longer for Ice Cream Sandwich on their Galaxy S II smartphones.
