T-Mobile: Samsung Galaxy Note arrives in coming weeks with Android 4.0 ICS in tow Posted: 17 Jul 2012 05:05 AM PDT Yesterday, we learned that the Samsung Galaxy Note would officially be coming to T-Mobile, and now we have a few more details about the device. Sprint announces Android 4.0 ICS updates for HTC EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G Posted: 16 Jul 2012 01:05 PM PDT Sprint announced today that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the HTC EVO 3D and HTC EVO Design 4G smartphones would begin to roll out ot users early next month. The updates offer Android 4.0 with HTC's Sense 3.6 user interface, and will be delivered to users over-the-air. Sprint said that it would announce exact dates for the roll outs in the near future. Instagram for Android updated with Google Nexus 7 support, share to Flickr Posted: 16 Jul 2012 12:09 PM PDT Instagram for Android got a minor update today that should make owners of the new Google Nexus 7 tablet happy. The latest version of Instagram now supports the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet, so users can put that front-facing camera to work. Additionally, the updated app now features sharing to Flickr, which has been present in the iOS version of Instagram for some time. Twitter releases updated app for BlackBerry smartphones with more detailed tweet views Posted: 16 Jul 2012 11:37 AM PDT Twitter released an updated version of its official app for BlackBerry smartphones today. The new version includes more details when viewing a tweet, and it is now possible to see images embedded in tweets, as well as location information on a map. The details view also displays previous tweets and replies for a broader view of the conversation at hand. BlackBerry users can grab the updated Twitter app from the BlackBerry App World now. T-Mobile confirms existence of Samsung Galaxy Note, little else Posted: 16 Jul 2012 10:54 AM PDT The past few weeks have seen a number of leaks saying that the Samsung Galaxy Note would be making its way to T-Mobile, but now we finally have word from an official channel that the 5.3-inch device is coming to the carrier. A T-Mobile support representative confirmed the existence of the device on Twitter today, but unfortunately did not provide any other information about it, such as a release date or price. T-Mobile says that we should know more about its variation of the Galaxy Note in the coming weeks, but that's all we have on it for now. Read the full story here. |
Sony Xperia S, P, U smartphones now available in the U.S. Posted: 16 Jul 2012 06:42 AM PDT This morning Sony announced that three members of its line of Xperia NXT smartphones, the Xperia S, Xperia P, and Xperia U, are now available for purchase in the U.S. Customers can buy unlocked versions of the smartphones at Sony retail stores, through the company's online store or at Newegg.com. The Xperia S is available in black or white for $559.99, the P can be had in silver, red, or black for $479.99; while the U is available in black or white for $299.99. Sprint widens 4G LTE footprint following yesterday's launch Posted: 16 Jul 2012 06:22 AM PDT Yesterday, Sprint officially turned on its 4G LTE service in five markets: Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, and San Antonio. Today, the carrier has announced that the service is also available in communities surrounding the initial launch markets, as well as Waco, Texas. The carrier now counts 15 cities under its 4G LTE blanket, including Athens, Ga.; Calhoun, Ga.; Carrollton, Ga.; Newnan, Ga.; Rome, Ga.; Fort Worth, Texas; Granbury-Hood County, Texas; Huntsville, Texas; Waco, Texas; and St. Joseph, Mo., as well as the original five markets. Sprint says it will launch more 4G LTE markets in the second half of this year, but it is not announcing any more at this time. The carrier intends to cover 250 million U.S. residents with 4G LTE service by the end of 2013. Read the full story here. |
Apple to release 7.85-inch iPad this year says NYT Posted: 16 Jul 2012 05:34 AM PDT Reports that Apple is planning to release a smaller version of its iPad tablet are continuing to build steam, and The New York Times is the latest to contribute to the fray. Google Nexus 7 sees another minor over-the-air update Posted: 16 Jul 2012 05:08 AM PDT Yesterday, Google started pushing another over-the-air update to the just-shipped Nexus 7 tablet. This update, which is a mere 859kb in size, upgrades the Nexus 7's software build to JRO03D from JRO03C and adds the device's FCC ID and IC ID to the About screen. The official Android version on the Nexus 7 is still Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, and we haven't really been able to spot any other differences with this update. Nexus 7 owners should get a notification on their tablets when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed. Read the full story here. |
