Verizon launches GameTanium subscription gaming service for Android devices Posted: 13 Jul 2012 06:50 AM PDT Verizon Wireless today announced a new subscription gaming service for its Android smartphones and tablets. The first of its kind, the new GameTanium service offers users unlimited access to over 100 smartphone games and over 50 tablets games for a flat $5.99 per month fee. The GameTanium app provides recommendations for new games and is free of advertisement. Verizon customers can download the GameTanium app from the Verizon Apps portal on their Android devices now. Nokia Transport 2.1 exits beta, offers more detailed information, better search features Posted: 13 Jul 2012 06:32 AM PDT Nokia announced today that the new version of its Transport app for Lumia smartphones has exited beta and is now available for download in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Version 2.1 of the Nokia Transport app offers more detailed information about public transportation routes, an improved search feature, and the ability to pin live tiles for multiple destinations on the home screen. Verizon's big spectrum buy held up by regulators over competition concerns Posted: 13 Jul 2012 06:05 AM PDT It was reported earlier this week that the Federal Communications Commission was prepared to green light Verizon Wireless' purchase of $3.9 billion worth of spectrum from a consortium of cable companies, but it doesn't look like it will be that easy for Verizon to gain similar approval from the Justice Department. The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that the deal is being held back by the Justice Department over concerns that it will harm competition on the broadband home internet market. Apple adds Food & Drink category to iTunes App Store Posted: 13 Jul 2012 05:41 AM PDT Apple has added a new category to the iTunes App Store available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The new Food & Drink category is where users can find apps for recipes, restaurant directories, and more. Prior to this change, these types of apps were collected together under the more generic Lifestyle category. Users should be able to see and access the new category on their iOS devices now.
