RIM responds to BBM trademark lawsuit Posted: 26 Dec 2011 04:59 AM PST Last week, a Canadian company brought a lawsuit against RIM over the use of "BBM" as an abbreviation for BlackBerry Messenger. BBM Canada, a broadcasting company, claimed that it had been using BBM in its name for decades before RIM, and that RIM was causing confusion in the market. RIM has issued a statement concerning the lawsuit, and says that the two companies are in entirely different industries, and that RIM's use of the term in its marketing is in no way confusing to customers.
