Today, the note taking service released version 3.4 of its BlackBerry app, which adds a number of performance improvements and a new user interface. Evernote says that sync within the app is 3 times faster than before, and the new home screen features an easier to read layout. It is now possible to filter the notes by various parameters, and adding text to existing notes has been simplified. Evernote for BlackBerry is free and can be downloaded from the BlackBerry App World now. Read the full story here. |

The updates will be sent out in waves over the next month, so there's no way to know for sure when the update might land on any particular Nexus S. For now, at least, the update will only be available for the GSM/UMTS version of the Nexus S. Owners of the WiMAX-capable Nexus S 4G for Sprint will have to be patient. Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T gets updated to Android 2.3.6 Posted: 16 Dec 2011 08:07 AM PST AT&T is dishing out a software update for its Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone (the pre-LTE one) that bumps the installed version of Android up to 2.3.6 Gingerbread from 2.3.4 Gingerbread. The carrier has not yet released an official changelog for the update, but users are reporting that it is available by heading to the About Phone section of the Settings menu and that it is about 20MB in size. We would expect that the big change is the move from the scrolling bounce to the glow that Samsung has used on more recent versions of its Galaxy S II smartphone (the T-Mobile edition and the Galaxy S II Skyrocket for AT&T both use the glow instead of the more favorable bounce effect when scrolling). While Samsung might not admit it, we assume that it is in response to the various lawsuits that Samsung is facing from Apple over the controversial bounce effect, which Apple owns a patent on. The site, currently in beta, breaks down Android development into sections, such as UI design and managing battery use, and walks the reader through the process of solving an Android programming problem. While not as in-depth as some commercially available books on the subject, the site offers coders a good starting point as well as provides an easy to use reference that they can check back with once they start building the next million-selling Android app. Read the full story here. |
