AT&T, Sprint dispute the "indisputable" regarding T-Mobile deal

This week AT&T submitted a filing to the FCC that seeks permission for AT&T to acquire Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile USA division. AT&T is seeking to convince the FCC that its deal with T-Mobile USA. Sprint and AT&T traded a few barbs this week regarding the deal.

Apple iPad 2 shipment forecast gets a trim

Research firm IHS iSuppli has cut its February forecast for Apple's iPad 2 2011 sales from 43.7 million to 39.7 million units, a 9.1 percent reduction. This could be a result of Apple's manufacturing issues earlier in the year, which led to a supply shortage of the coveted iPad 2. The source claims that these manufacturing "issues" include production shortages of the new speaker and quality concerns with the LCD panels. IHS iSuppli made sure to note that these issues were not a product of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, as Apple seemed to move faster than others to protect its supply chain. However, despite those precautions, disaster-related disruptions may still limit Apple's effort to increase production during the second half of the year, when the company attempts to balance out the shipment shortfall of the first half.

Samsung fires back at Apple, files countersuit

Samsung has followed through on its promise to sue Apple in response to the lawsuit Apple filed against Samsung last week. Samsung has filed suit against Apple in South Korea, Japan, and Germany over 10 infringements on patents related to smartphone technology.

Twice as many Apple iOS as Android users in Europe

According to a new report from comScore, there are twice as many owners of iOS devices in Europe as there are of Android owners. The company surveyed users in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy and found that the iOS platform has a reach of 28.9 million in those markets.
