Nokia E7 Symbian^3 smartphone now available in the UK Posted: 09 Apr 2011 02:26 AM PDT Nokia has made its E7 Symbian^3 smartphone available for purchase in the UK through its direct store. The 4-inch, QWERTY keyboard equipped smartphone was made available for pre-order last month, but now it is showing in stock to be shipped immediately. The cost is 499 GBP (US$818) SIM-free, or 469 GBP (US$768) with a pre-paid SIM card. Interested customers can head over to Nokia's online shop now to place their order. Read the full story here. |

Samsung Galaxy S II will have 1.2GHz processor for UK Posted: 08 Apr 2011 10:08 AM PDT Pocket-lint is reporting that Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S II smartphone will have a 1.2GHz dual-core processor when it launches. It was originally announced with a 1GHz dual-core processor at MWC earlier this year. Samsung has maintained that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone is on track for an April launch in Europe, and that this change will not delay it. Nokia clarifies Symbian OS position; it's not open source Posted: 08 Apr 2011 08:18 AM PDT Nokia has issued a statement on its blog clarifying the recent availability of the source code to its Symbian operating system. Some have misconstrued this to mean that Symbian is an open source project. This is not the case, according to Nokia. Nokia is still requiring manufacturers and OEMs to register for access to the Symbian code, and is issuing licenses when the access is granted. Only approved platform collaborators will gain access to the Symbian source code. Application developers will still have the same documentation and support from Nokia that they have always received. iPhone 4 sold over 1 million times at Verizon says comScore Posted: 08 Apr 2011 05:23 AM PDT According to an assumption by comScore based on a survey of 10,300 mobile phone owners, Verizon Wireless sold well over 1 million units of the iPhone 4 in the month of February, even though it was only out for 3 weeks of the month. comScore representatives would not give an exact number for the sales; however, they stated that the Verizon iPhone showed up in a "fierce way" in their survey.
