OpenFeint adds 14 more top games to its Android roster

OpenFeint, the social gaming platform for mobile phones, has announced that it has added 14 more top selling games to its lineup for the Android operating system. Popular games such as Doodle Bowling, Meganoid, Stupid Zombies, and Tank Hero can now be had on Android phones. The total number of OpenFeint games available for Android is now 315. Verizon's LTE bests Sprint's WiMAX in 4G speed test

An independent analyst firm has conducted a speed test in New York City pitting Verizon Wireless' new LTE 4G network against Sprint's WiMAX network that was activated last year. Unsurprisingly, Verizon's LTE came out on top.

4G LTE service now available in Tampa via MetroPCS

MetroPCS has turned on 4G LTE service in Tampa, FL, making it the fourteenth city to be blessed with 4G by the carrier. MetroPCS now has LTE service in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Tampa. The budget carrier has one smartphone available that can take advantage of the higher speeds, the Samsung Indulge. The Indulge has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, Android 2.2 Froyo, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It costs $299 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, arc up for pre-order from Rogers in Canada

Rogers in Canada has put the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and Xperia PLAY up for pre-order on its website. Both Android 2.3 Gingerbread-powered smartphones are listed at $99 on a three-year agreement, but Rogers does not list an off-contract price. The PLAY will be available in both black and white through the carrier, while the arc will be available in just black. Rogers does not give a release date for either phone. Interested customers can head to Rogers' site now to place a pre-order.

Verizon adds tablets to Trade-In program

Verizon Wireless has announced that tablets will now be accepted for its Trade-In Program, which is meant to offer customers a green way to get rid of their old devices. The program initially launched in 2010, exclusively for mobile phones. Now, tablets have been added to Verizon's list of eligible devices, and participants can receive up to $300 back for trading in a device in good condition. We suspect that the launch of Apple's second-gen iPad may have something to do with Verizon's recent addition of tablets to its program, as people could be tossing out the old iPad to make room for a new one. If you don't have cash overflowing from your pockets, but still want to trade up tablets or phones, Verizon's Trade-In Program may help pay for whatever new device you're into; plus, you'll be keeping the planet healthy as you do it.
