Motorola's XOOM, ATRIX 4G sales come up short

Posted: 06 Apr 2011 10:27 AM PDT

According to research by Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette, Motorola's cornerstone products, the ATRIX 4G smartphone and the XOOM Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, are not jumping off the shelves the way the company had hoped. Faucette claims that the sales "have been disappointing," pointing to the ATRIX, in particular. Motorola's ATRIX smartphone, which is designed to act as an alternative to laptop when connected to its companion devices, has been hurt by competitive price points on the Apple iPhone 3GS and HTC's Inspire, which has left sales "well below forecast." Faucette added that the key to Motorola's future success will rest in its ability to "differentiate [itself] from the rest of the pack."
