Android 2.2 Froyo update for T-Mobile's Samsung Vibrant now available to all

We have just confirmed that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Samsung Vibrant on T-Mobile USA is now available to all. There is a hitch, though: the update requires the use of Samsung's temperamental Kies mini software, which is available here. There is no 64-bit Windows support in Kies, and there is no Mac support at all at this point. The update includes support for Wi-Fi calling on T-Mobile's network.

AT&T could intro tiered 4G LTE speed and data plans this spring

According to an internal AT&T document, AT&T may begin trialing tiered 4G LTE data and speed plans in May 2011. Customers could choose a specific plan for both data and speed to start, and tweak it if necessary using AT&T's "Speed Up Session" or "Top Up Session" options.

Bing for BlackBerry now offers flight status, homepage hotspots

Microsoft's Bing search application has been updated for BlackBerry smartphones. The app now offers users the ability to find out the status of a flight, find nearby businesses, and more. It was also updated with the option to search for images complete with the option to filter out adult content. The user interface was tweaked a tad; it now presents Bing's signature "Homepage hotspots" which is a random image on the homescreen that offers tidbits of info about that specific image. The application is free and is in BlackBerry App World now.

HTC: revenue and shipments to double in Q1 2011

Today HTC said that it expects its revenue and device shipments to double, year over year, during the first quarter of 2011. It believes that demand for its current handsets, paired with its new 4G smartphones offered on Verizon and AT&T, will help it meet those expectations.

AT&T may intro phone trade-in program on Sunday

AT&T may introduce a new phone trade-in program on Sunday, January 23. The trade-in could provide customers with credit for their old phones, regardless of the carrier. AT&T may also provide the option to donate that credit to charity.

Vlingo for BlackBerry adds European language support

Today Research In Motion announced that Vlingo for BlackBerry, a voice command application for BlackBerry smartphones, now supports a number of European languages. Vlingo users can now issue commands in French, German, Italian, and Spanish to send a text or email, search the web, call a contact, update Facebook or Twitter, and more. Vlingo Plus is available in BlackBerry App World for $19.99.

Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G available for $90 on Amazon

Amazon is currently selling the HTC EVO Shift 4G for $89.99 with a new Sprint contract. The HTC EVO Shift 4G was announced earlier this month and originally launched for $149.99 with a new 2-year Sprint contract, so Amazon's price offers a good deal of savings. Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 images and specs leaked
