Verizon has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission to fight back against the FCC's net neutrality rules. Verizon believes the FCC is acting beyond the authority given to it by Congress.

Page named new Google CEO, Schmidt assumes chairman role

Today Google announced today that Larry Page, one of Google's co-founders, will lead the firm as its chief executive officer beginning on April 4. Eric Schmidt, the current CEO, will serve as the executive chairman of Google. He will act as an adviser to both Larry and Sergey Brin.

The Motorola CLIQ 2 is the second iteration of the slide-out QWERTY keyboard Android smartphone for T-Mobile USA. The CLIQ 2 features a larger, higher res display as well as Wi-Fi calling and a 1GHz processor.

Google's Nexus S getting an SMS bug fix

According to a Twitter update from Samsung's Galaxy S support account, Google Nexus S owners should expect an over the air update "in the next few days" that will address a problem with SMS messages being sent to the wrong contact. The problem is not just found on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which runs on the Nexus S, and has also been seen for some time on devices running earlier versions of the Android smartphone operating system. The Nexus S update will address only the SMS issue and will not impact any other aspects of the phone, according to Samsung.

Samsung announces Galaxy S 4G Android smartphone for T-Mobile

Samsung and T-Mobile have confirmed that the Galaxy S 4G will be launching in the coming weeks. The phone can theoretically reach data download speeds of up to 21Mbps. Disappointingly, it's powered by the older Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

Apple suing Nokia in U.K. for patent infringement

Apple filed a new patent lawsuit against Nokia in the U.K. It believes that Nokia is infringing on a patent related to scrolling technology used in devices with touchscreens. "The lawsuit, filed yesterday in the High Court in London, challenges one of seven Nokia patents asserted against Apple," a Nokia spokesperson told Bloomberg. Nokia and Apple have filed a number of patent infringement claims against each other in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant update "coming very soon"

According to Sascha Segan over at PCMag, T-Mobile will soon issue an update to its Samsung Vibrant Android smartphone. There's been a lot of speculation recently about why it has taken Samsung so long to update its Galaxy S devices to Android 2.2 Froyo, and so we believe that's what T-Mobile execs were referring to when they said an update will be issued "very soon." T-Mobile CEO confirms Samsung Galaxy S 4G smartphone

During a press event today T-Mobile's CEO, Philipp Humm, said that T-Mobile will launch a 4G version of its popular Samsung Vibrant, a Galaxy S phone. He said it will "launch as the new Samsung Galaxy S 4G," but didn't provide an exact date for the announcement. We expect it could come during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. Images of the Samsung Vibrant 4G were leaked earlier this month, and aside from offering HSPA+ connectivity, it didn't appear much was tweaked. Let's hope it at least launches running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

T-Mobile to launch Android-powered Sidekick 4G phone

According to PCMag, T-Mobile's CEO Philipp Humm today confirmed that T-Mobile USA will launch a 4G version of its popular Sidekick messaging device, and it's going to be powered by Android. "[There] will also be a Sidekick 4G. Everybody knows the Sidekick, and we're goingt o relaunch the Sidekick and bring it as a 4G device, Android based, into the market," Humm said. It's unclear exactly when the device will launch.

Nokia C1-01 and C2-01 feature phones headed to Orange U.K.

Orange U.K. is adding two affordable Nokia handsets, the C1-01 and the C2-01. Both handsets will be offered through the carrier's pay-as-you-go plan. The C101 is a bar-styled handset that offers access to email, messaging, and the internet as well as an MP3 player and FM radio. Its sister, the C2-01, is feature phone that offers 3G data support as well as the Series 40 operating system. Both phones will be available soon from Orange U.K.

The T-Mobile Dell Streak 7 could cost $330 if a leaked product page is to be believed. The Dell Streak 7 is a 7-inch Android tablet that was announced during CES, and it runs on a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and supports T-Mobile's HSPA+ network.

Apple may intro multi-touch gestures on iPhone

It may not be long until we'll be able to navigate around our iPhone user interface using multi-touch gestures on the screen. According to screenshots from Boy Genius Report, we'll be able to use four or five fingers to navigate back to the homescreen, access the task manager, or swipe between apps.

Google Voice number porting feature coming in "near future"

For a little while yesterday Google had an option on its Google Voice page that allowed users to choose to port their own number into Google Voice for $20. Porting the number would require that you end your current mobile service contract, but it would allow you to move between devices freely. Before long, Google pulled the option from its website and told Engadget that it's not ready for prime time yet. "We're continually testing new features to enhance the user experience. For a limited amount of time, we're making the Google Voice number porting process available to users. We don't have any additional details to share at this time, but plan to offer this feature to all users in the near future," a Google spokesperson said.

Cricket's Muve Music service now live in Las Vegas

Today Cricket announced that its unlimited music download service, called Muve Music, is now live in Las Vegas. Cricket claims it's the first to offer a wireless rate plan that includes unlimited music downloads and the service is supported on the Samsung Suede. It will launch in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, Milwaukee, Madison, and Wichita in February. Cricket says more markets will launch in the spring.

Apple may intro 'Media Stream' feature in iOS 4.3
