Proposed ban on cell use by truck and bus drivers Posted: 18 Dec 2010 09:49 AM PST Yesterday the U.S. Transportation Department proposed implementing a ban on the use of cell phones behind the wheel for bus and truck drivers. According to Reuters, this would impact roughly 4 million U.S. drivers, who are already prohibited from texting while driving. The proposed ban is subject to a 60 day long comment period before it will be put into action. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood recently spoke of possibly blocking cell phone use in all vehicles. Star Wars Motorola DROID R2-D2 gets $50 price cut Posted: 18 Dec 2010 09:42 AM PST Verizon Wireless has reduced the price of its Star Wars special edition Motorola Droid R2-D2 Android smartphone. The white DROID 2 variant originally sold for $249 with matching desk charger and ear bud headphones. It now is going for $199 - the same price as the regular version (though the Star Wars edition is not buy one, get one free like the original). Read the full story here. |
U.S. Cellular drops Samsung Galaxy Tab cost on 5GB data plan Posted: 18 Dec 2010 09:35 AM PST U.S. Cellular has restructured its price plans for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. New Foursquare iPhone app due next week Posted: 18 Dec 2010 07:36 AM PST Foursquare recently confirmed that it will issue an update for its iPhone application next week. Via a Tweet, Foursquare said "We just found an app approval in our stocking! New foursquare early next week. Thanks #SantaJobs." SantaJobs clearly being in reference to Steve Jobs. According to PhoneArena, new features include recommendations to users based on places they have checked into. Similarly, there could be a new photo sharing featuer that allows users to take snapshots of the places the visit, for other to see later. Read the full story here. |
