BlackBerry Desktop Software 2.0 for Mac OS adds Wi-Fi music sync

RIM has released the latest version of its BlackBerry Desktop Software, version 2.0, for Mac OS. The update adds the ability to sync music to your BlackBerry via a Wi-Fi connection. For that feature to work, your phone must be running the BlackBerry 6 operating system. Other features of the BlackBerry Desktop Software 2.0 for Mac OS include better support for importing and syncing photos and videos with iPhoto and iTunes. The software is available for free now.

Amazon Kindle for Android updated with magazine, newspaper content

Amazon has updated its Amazon Kindle Android software. The latest version allows you to make in-app purchases and adds access to more than 100 newspapers and magazines, too. You'll also be able to install Kindle for Android on your SD card to help save memory. As you're reading, you can share your book reading progress with social networks. Amazon has also added the ability to double tap on images to zoom. The Kindle for Android update is available now from the Android Market.

WordPress launches Windows Phone 7 app

WordPress, the popular website content management system, is now available for Windows Phone 7 smartphones. The application allows you to write blog posts, edit content, view your website stats, manage comments, and more all from your phone. You simply have to login with your user ID and password and the app does the rest. WordPress for Windows Phone 7 is free and can be downloaded from the WP7 Marketplace now.

LG B Android smartphone leaked in images

Phandroid has gotten ahold of some images of an upcoming LG Android smartphone that's reportedly dubbed the "B." There's little known about the B other than what it looks like, and that it's thinner than the iPhone. The device, shown in comparison to a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and the iPhone, appears to have a very bright screen. However, it's also obvious that it doesn't have an AMOLED screen since the blacks aren't very deep. LG hasn't officially announced the phone, so there aren't any dates to give for a potential release date or even where it might be launched.

Tech execs arrested for leaking Apple iPad details, other secrets, to hedge funds

Four men have been arrested for leaking tech industry secrets, including details on the Apple iPad before it launched, to hedge funds. Two of those arrested worked for AMD, one was an employee with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, and a fourth worked for Flextronics.

Google release Maps 5.0 for Android today, and we shot a quick video of it running on a Nexus S to demonstrate some of the new features, such as the 3D view, two-finger gestures, and electronic compass support.

Skyfire working on Apple iPad app

Skyfire is reportedly working on an iPad web browser application which will add a host of features to the iPad, including Flash video support. The app will include Skyfire's Fireplace Feed Reader for RSS readers, a Popular Content Skybar button which provides shared stories from your Facebook friends, Google Reader support, and a Facebook like button on every page. Skyfire handles Flash video by converting the file to HTML5 content, but it doesn't allow you to play Flash games or interact with other Flash content. For now, Skyfire is waiting for its approval from the Apple App Store. Skyfire launched its iPhone app in November.

Facebook unveils facial recognition photo tagging feature

Today Facebook announced that it will begin rolling out a new Facial Recognition feature for tagging photos. The service will compare facial features with older photos and suggest friends to tag. Facebook is rolling this feature out over the next couple of weeks.

Google App Inventor for Android now available for all

Google has released its App Inventor for Android software to everyone. The free application allows people without necessarily advanced programming skills to create applications for their personal use. Google says the software has already been used by teachers, students, parents, kids, and programming hobbyists to create Android application that range from vocab apps for children to SMS broadcasting apps for community events. HTC releases WP7 YouTube application with HQ playback support

HTC has developed and released its own YouTube application for its Windows Phone 7 smartphones. The app isn't listed in the HTC App Hub just yet, according to WPCentral, but it it is available in the Marketplace under Apps > Music & Video. HTC's custom YouTube application supports HQ (HD) playback and is reportedly fast. It's only available for HTC WP7 phones.

Skype for Android updated

Skype has updated its Android application with support for installing the app directly to your the phone's SD card. Skype also says that the application will now work properly on Samsung Galaxy S phones that are running Android 2.2 or later. Sadly, Samsung and the respective U.S. Galaxy S carriers offering the phones have yet to provide an official Android 2.2 Froyo update. For now, it looks like European Galaxy S owners will be the only ones with full support. Head over to Skype's website for more information.

Trillian chat client for Android leaves beta

Trillian, a chat client application that combines multiple instant messaging services, has left beta. The application is available in the Android Market for $4.99. Trillian supports AIM, Facebook Chat, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, and more. It also supports tabbed chat, landscape mode, photo sharing and emoticons.

HTC EVO 4G updated with Swype, Blockbuster

Sprint has released a maintenance release for the HTC EVO 4G. The update adds Blockbuster support, Amazon's Kindle eReader, Sprint Zone updates, a Telenav update, the latest version of Visual Voicemail, Swype keyboard support, and a a try/buy video game called NOVA. The software version is 3.70.651.1 and Sprint says the update is being released in stages, so it may roll out to some devices faster than others. For instructions on how to update manually, head over to Sprint's support forums.

Flipboard for iPad updated with Flickr support

Flipboard has updated its free iPad application with a number of new features. Flipboard now supports Flickr photo streams as well as photos and status updates from Twitter and Facebook. The app includes Google Reader support, too, for following RSS feeds, saving stories for later reading, or sharing news stories with friends. Flipboard also says the app now offers a "more beautiful layout" and faster performance than previous versions. Flipboard v1.1 is available in the iTunes app store now.

Nokia files patent lawsuits against Apple in Europe

Nokia announced today that it is filing additional patent infringement lawsuits against Apple in Europe. The lawsuit claims that Apple is infringing on 13 of Nokia's patents, which is in addition to the complaint which alleges Apple is infringing on 24 of its patents in the U.S.

Navigon outs MobileNavigator update for iPhone, adds iPad support

Today Navigon released the latest version of its MobileNavigator GPS software for the iPhone. The update adds a number of new features that include support for the iPad. MobileNavigator 1.7.0 includes support for Zagat ratings (a $5.99 in-app purchase) for reviews of restaurants, hotels, attractions, and more. It also includes active lane assistant, map reporter for storing changed road names, and retina display support. On the iPad it's possible to see Reality View Pro and the map side by side. MobileNavigator North America costs $44.99 while the USA version is just $34.99.
