Dell admits "slight delay" in Venue Pro WP7 shipments Posted: 16 Dec 2010 04:15 AM PST Today Dell posted on its support page that it has experienced a "sluight delay" in shipment times for the Venue Pro, a Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Dell says the January 6 ship date could be correct for some, but not all customers, and ship times will vary by the customer and then they placed the order. Anyone who placed the order before December 14 will receive a Plantronics Explorer 240 Bluetooth headset in 4-6 weeks, too. "Dell is ramping production as fast as we can. We're continuing to monitor our manufacturing and supplies and will make every effort to align shipments with arrival expectations. At this point, our most important focus is to deliver the right out-of-box experience so customers are happy with their purchase," a Dell community member said. Read the full story here. |

Apple iTunes updated to 10.1.1 Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:47 PM PST Today Apple released the latest version of iTunes, version 10.1.1. The update is relatively basic and addresses some problems with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 and 9600 graphics chips on some Mac computers. It also fixes an issue where the app quitsw if a user deletes a playlist with the iTunes Sidebar activated. A bug that forced iTunes to sometimes quit when an iPod was plugged into a PowerPC powered Mac has also been addressed. Read the full story here. |

Google TV Remote app for Android now available Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:37 PM PST Today Google announced an update for its Google TV software. In tandem with that announcement, it also released a new Google TV Remote application for Android smartphones. The app lets you change channels, access your DVR, search for shows or movies using your voice, or even share videos and websites directly from your phone to your TV. Apple iBooks for iPhone, iPad updated Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:33 PM PST Today Apple released the latest version of its iBooks application for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. iBooks allows users to download ebooks to read on their respective devices. The latest version provides the ability to read fully illustrated boks (such as children's books), and the option to organize books into personal collections. U.S. Cellular kicking off "All Phones Free" sale December 17 Posted: 15 Dec 2010 10:47 AM PST U.S. Cellular will be offering all of its phones for free as part of its "All Phones Free" holiday sale. The special will kickoff on Friday, December 17, and will last through December 24. The downside? Most phones are only free after a mail-in rebate, so it's not an immediate savings. Each purchase also requires a U.S. Cellular contract. Devices listed include the Samsung Mesmerize, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve, LG Optimus U, and the HTC Desire. HTC: 4G LTE phones coming in second half of 2011 Posted: 15 Dec 2010 09:04 AM PST According to HTC's Peter Chou, who recently spoke with Mobile World Live in a video interview, HTC will begin to release its 4G LTE capable handsets during the second half of 2011. HTC also plans to support near field communications (NFC) technology, which is a feature of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is offered on the Nexus S. Verizon Wireless has already deployed its 4G LTE network and AT&T plans to begin its roll-out in 2011. Verizon has said that 4G LTE phones will launch on its network during mid-2011. The change will allow Three customers to stream media, surf the web, or do whatever they want on their smartphones without worrying about extra fees. "Customers say the fear of incurring unexpected data charges is one of the biggest barriers to really making the most of the new smartphone world. With the advent of high definition videos and games, not to mention apps, maps, social media updates, emails music, video calls and much, much more usage will continue to grow, and with it the need for a plan that provides reassurance", Three said in a statement.
