Aliph releases Jawbone THOUGHTS iPhone messaging app

Jawbone headset manufacturer Aliph has launched a free voice messaging application for Apple iPhone users that it calls Jawbone THOUGHTS.

Apple drops jailbreak detection interface from iOS 4.2

Network World is reporting that Apple has silently disabled what is commonly known as the "jailbreak detection API" in its recent iOS 4.2 software release. The programming interface could be used by developers to have an app detect whether or not an iOS based device, such as an iPhone or iPad, had been modified, or jailbroken. The jailbreak process allows users to install applications that haven't gone through Apple's App Store screening process and that potentially can take advantage of programming capabilities typically reserved for built-in iOS applications. The functionality had been introduced in iOS 4.0 as part of a device management system intended to be used by enterprise applications for businesses.

Twitter used by only 8 percent of online Americans

According to a recent Pew Research study, only eight percent of Americans that use the Internet use Twitter. The report data shows that young adults, aged 18-29, are more likely to use Twitter, as are African-Americans and Latinos, who are twice as likely to use the social networking service. The study also showed that Americans who live in cities are also twice as likely to use Twitter than the average person.

Android Market update reduces application refund window

Google has announced that with the new Android Market update that is rolling out, it has now reduced the amount of time users have to get a refund on paid applications. Prior to the update, Market shoppers had 24 hours to request a refund for an app they didn't like. That has now been changed to a mere 15 minutes. Google claims that most users that request a refund do so within minutes of a purchase. As frequent app purchasers, we don't necessarily agree with that.

T-Mobile to offer 4G tablet in 2011

It appears that T-Mobile wants to join in the 4G tablet fun, according to TmoNews. Apparently it will offer 4G tablets starting as soon as next year. The number 4 U.S. wireless carrier informed TmoNews that it is working closely with OEM partners to deliver new 4G products, including tablets, in 2011. The tablets would run on T-Mobile's speedy HSPA+ network for data.
