Clearwire chairman stepping down today Posted: 31 Dec 2010 05:09 AM PST According to Bloomberg, Clearwire's chairman, Craig McCaw, will step down from his role within the company today. Clearwire has struggled to raise enough money to continue to build out its 4G WiMAX network, and it was reportedly going to run out of cash next year. In November Clearwire announced that it was cutting 15 percent of its employees and was delaying a potential CLEAR-branded WiMAX smartphone due to a lack of funds. McCaw is not leaving as the result of a disagreement, Clearwire said. Clearwire's 4G WiMAX network is currently available in 71 markets across the United States and it most recently launched in San Francisco. Read the full story here. |
HTC Scribe tablet in the works? Posted: 31 Dec 2010 05:01 AM PST On December 26 HTC reportedly filed for a trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a product that it is calling the "HTC Scribe." The device is described as a "handheld wireless device, namely a tablet computer." HTC has yet to announce a tablet, and it's unclear if the device will run Android, like Samsung's Galaxy Tab or Motorola's upcoming and unannounced tablet, or if it will run another operating system. One analyst with KGI Research thinks it's possible that HTC will announce the tablet during the Consumer Electronics Show next week or during Mobile World Congress in February. We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available. Read the full story here. |

The new ROM can be installed on the phone's internal NAND storage, instead of on its microSD card, which allows for a more optimal user experience. Doing this also allows you to use your microSD card for storing more media. This kind of tweaking is probably best saved for more experienced ROM loaders. RIM's official statement is: "Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented.
