Skype for Android updated with faster performance, new instant message view Posted: 26 Apr 2012 12:29 PM PDT A new version of Skype for Android has hit the Google Play Store, and with it comes performance improvements and greater compatibility with more Android devices. Skype claims that the app now opens faster than ever, and notes that the instant messaging section of the app has been given a visual makeover. Skype also says that video rotation support has been added for many more Android smartphones and tablets. Skype for Android is free and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store now. Best Buy killing its Connect mobile broadband service Posted: 26 Apr 2012 11:40 AM PDT According to a document obtained by Engadget, Best Buy is canceling its short-lived Connect ~MVNO. Best Buy Connect launched in the summer of 2010, and offered mobile broadband services that utilized Clearwire's 4G WiMAX network and Sprint's 3G CDMA network. Customers could choose from a variety of packages, including subsidized contract plans and prepaid plans, but it doesn't seem like any of them were terribly popular. The internal document announcing the end of Connect says that Best Buy is no longer accepting new customers and that existing customers will see their service ended in June. Best Buy is waiving all early termination fees and is giving its existing users the option to move their service to Clear's WiMAX service and take $125 or $150 gift cards as compensation for switching to different provider.
