Nokia points to a May 14 launch for the Lumia 900 in the UK

The Nokia Lumia 900 has been a success so far for the company in the U.S. since its release on April 8, but those in the UK have yet to get their hands on the flagship Windows Phone device. According to The Verge, come May 14, that may change, as that is the date Nokia intends to launch the HSPA+ version of the Lumia 900 in the UK. Nokia says that there is a chance that the device could hit shelves before that, but it is committed to making it available by the middle of the month. Both black and white versions of the phone are expected to be available in the UK. The company claims to be putting all of its manufacturing efforts on the Lumia 900 towards meeting the U.S. demand for the phone, though neither AT&T nor Nokia have released specific sales figures for the Lumia 900 as of yet.

Barnes & Noble delivering NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight ahead of schedule

Barnes & Noble has revealed that it is delivering the new NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight to those that pre-ordered - ahead of schedule. Customers that already placed pre-orders can expect to see the device at their doorstep in the very near future. The bookseller says that there has been such a high demand for the GlowLight-equipped version of the NOOK Simple Touch that initial availability in stores will be limited. Barnes & Noble recommends that those that want the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight in time for Mother's Day to place a pre-order now, as that will be the quickest way to get one of the new self-illuminating e-readers. The NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight sells for $139.

Video: Hands-on with Google Drive for Android

Google Drive is the search company's new cloud-based storage service that extends upon the existing Google Docs service. Accompanying the new service is the Google Drive app for Android that allows users to access files stored on their Google Drive account and upload new files to it. The app is an update to the existing Google Docs app and, as a result, looks very similar to it. A version of Google Drive is due to arrive for iOS soon.

Apple's iPhone violates one Motorola patent says ITC

The International Trade Commission has ruled that Apple is in violation of one of Motorola's patents with its iPhone smartphone. The patent is one of four brought up by Motorola in its case against Apple, and relates to Wi-Fi technology.

Google bumps free Gmail accounts to 10GB of storage

In celebration of the launch of its new Google Drive service, Google has announced that it is increasing the free storage available to Gmail users from 7.5GB to 10GB. Additionally, those that pay for extra Google Drive storage will get 25GB of Gmail storage for free. The increased amount of space should show up in users accounts over the next 24 hours.

Angry Birds Space arrives for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Google offers unlocked Galaxy Nexus smartphone for $399 in Google Play web store

Bringing back memories of Google's experiment with direct-to-consumer sales of the Nexus One smartphone in 2010, the search giant has just announced that it is selling the unlocked HSPA+ version of the Galaxy Nexus smartphone in its Google Play web store. The Galaxy Nexus is Google's flagship smartphone device, and has been available on the global market since the fall of last year. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED 720p HD display. Google says that this is the first time the unlocked Galaxy Nexus is being made officially available to U.S. customers. The unlocked version works with both AT&T and T-Mobile, and includes support for Google Wallet. Buyers can snag one in the Devices section of the Google Play web store for $399 now.

Judge rules that even deleted tweets can be subpoenaed

T-Mobile updates the G2x to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, promises the reboot bug is fixed

Everyone else might be focused on when their Android smartphones will get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but owners of the T-Mobile G2x should be happy to hear that the carrier has released an update to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread for the device. This update, which follows the Android 2.3.3 update offered last year, promises to finally fix the reboot bug that users have been dealing with since the device's launch. The update is available to users over-the-air through May 14, after which it can be downloaded directly from LG's website.

Verizon issues updates for Motorola DROID RAZR, DROID RAZR MAXX

Verizon Wireless has started pushing out updates for the Motorola DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX that address some performance issues and fix some bugs. The updates do not upgrade the phones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but they do include improved device stability, improved battery life, better Bluetooth performance, better 4G and Wi-Fi hotspot performance, IPv6 support and enhanced security, and text message improvements. Users should get a notification on their handsets when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed.

Facebook for Windows Phone to see major update soon

Facebook has promised that a major update to its Windows Phone app will be hitting the Windows Phone Marketplace soon. Version 2.5 of Facebook for Windows Phone is set to include threaded messaging, tagging, the ability to delete posts and comments, active links in posts, an improved photo comments and likes section, and the ability to like comments. These new features bring the Windows Phone Facebook app closer to parity with the apps available for iOS and Android. Facebook says that the app is in the final stages of testing and should be available in the near future.

Onavo Extend now available for CDMA iPhone 4S, iPad with LTE

Onavo Extend, the data compression app that saves users on their limited data plans, is now available for CDMA versions of the iPhone 4S and the new iPad with LTE. Onavo Extend uses cloud-based technology to compress the amount of data used by mobile devices by up to 80 percent. Samsung releases list of U.S. smartphones, tablets to get Android 4.0 ICS upgrades

Samsung has posted a list of the smartphones and tablets available in the U.S. that it plans to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at some point this year. Most of the phones on the list have already been promised upgrades to Android 4.0 by their carriers, but it never hurts to have further confirmation from the manufacturer. Still missing from the upgrade list? Any variant of the original Galaxy S, though, that's not entirely unexpected.
