NVIDIA talks of Tegra 3+ processor to come before Wayne Posted: 19 Apr 2012 05:00 PM PDT During an HTC sponsored event today, NVIDIA's Mobile Business Unit General Manager, Michael Rayfield, showed a Tegra roadmap slide to journalists that indicated that a processor called the Tegra 3+ would arrive before NVIDIA's next generation "Wayne" processor. While Rayfield did not go into details concerning the Tegra 3+, he did say that it would be available on both tablets and smartphones, and that it would be a significant upgrade from the current Tegra 3 processor system. Like the Tegra 3, the 3+ system-on-a-chip (SoC) will not feature a built-in modem. Read the full story here. |

Google Cloud Print can send documents to Android devices from a desktop computer Posted: 19 Apr 2012 10:31 AM PDT This week, Google added a functionality to its Chrome browser for desktop computers that lets users send documents to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones and tablets that have the Chrome for Android Beta browser installed. The Google Cloud Print service in Chrome now lets users "print" documents to their mobile device, which can then access them from within the Chrome for Android Beta browser. Nokia Lumia 610 smartphone hits Asia at the end of this month Posted: 19 Apr 2012 06:24 AM PDT Nokia has revealed that the Lumia 610, its new entry-level Windows Phone smartphone announced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, will be available in Asian markets by the end of this month. The Philippines will see the Lumia 610 first when it goes on sale in the final week of this month, and it will then become available in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam over the following weeks. Nokia says that the Lumia 610 will also be launched in other markets during this quarter. The Lumia 610 runs the Windows Phone "Tango" operating system and is the first low-end Windows Phone to hit the market. It is powered by an 800MHz processor with 256MB of RAM and has a 3.7-inch WVGA display. Read the full story here. |
Verizon sold 3.2 million iPhones, 2.1 million LTE smartphones in Q1 2012 Posted: 19 Apr 2012 05:47 AM PDT During Verizon Wireless' investor call for its Q1 2012 financial report, the carrier announced that it sold 3.2 million Apple iPhone smartphones and 2.1 million 4G LTE smartphones in the quarter. This compares to the 4.2 million iPhones and 2.2 million LTE smartphones it sold in Q4 2011. Total smartphone sales for Q1 were 6.3 million. Verizon says that 8 million of its customers are using LTE devices, and two-thirds of those are smartphones. It sold a total of 2.9 million 4G LTE devices in Q1. Read the full story here. |
