Verizon to release software update for HTC Trophy soon Posted: 09 Apr 2012 12:45 PM PDT Verizon Wireless has revealed that a software update for the HTC Trophy Windows Phone smartphone will be released in the near future. The update claims to resolve the disappearing keyboard bug that plagued many Windows Phone devices after they were updated to 7.5 Mango. It also offers improved voicemail notifications when roaming outside of the U.S., as well as improvements to the messaging and email apps. Users will get a notification on their handsets when the update is released, and then they will have to use the Zune software on a PC or Mac to install it. Read the full story here. |
Instagram to be acquired by Facebook for $1 billion Posted: 09 Apr 2012 10:15 AM PDT Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, has just announced that Facebook will buy Instagram, the red-hot photo-sharing social network. The transaction is worth $1 billion of cash and stock and the Instagram team is expected to be assimilated as Facebook employees, though Facebook says it will develop the company independently. Leap Wireless, T-Mobile shake hands on spectrum trade Posted: 09 Apr 2012 05:34 AM PDT Leap Wireless, T-Mobile, and two joint-ventures have agreed to swap spectrum licenses in various parts of the country. The swap will give Leap, owner of Cricket, more spectrum in Phoenix and Houston, while T-Mobile and its joint venture, Cook Inlet, while have greater spectrum in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. RIM plans end to app side-loading on PlayBook tablets Posted: 09 Apr 2012 05:30 AM PDT RIM has revealed that it intends to disable the ability to side-load apps to the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with a future software update. Up to now, users have been able to install Android apps on their PlayBook tablets through software on their Mac or PC even if those particular Android apps were not available in the BlackBerry App World.
